So is Napier coming or no? One of these two couldn't really be the Rb coach right? I've never heard of this guy.

FSU has two offensive assistant jobs open.

Just did some research and it looks like Sanders is another good recruiter and a quality coach, especially with quarterbacks.

quality qb coach? Did you see his qb's play at Tenn? not quite yikes, but not good either. The fact he could not recruit to Kentucky does not mean he is a good or bad recruiter. People at Tenn did not complain about his recruiting.

If i remember correctly he beat us as the oc in the mnc game. oh, him and Outzen. I think overall was an avg oc. I know, not coming here an an oc.

So, we may have 3 qb coaches on staff while we already have the real qb coach. Just shows the coaching aspect is secondary to some of these position coaches.

IMO an upgrade from burns. Probably a better recruiter or he would not have held on as long as Tenn oc. Bama is winning MNC's and has great ol's of course they get rb's who get lots of yards. Not even Jeffy could have screwed that up. Well, maybe jeffy.

The rb's will or won't be good because of the talent Trickett gets to come play for him & not because of any rb coach. However, i expect any chances with Derek Green are now over and more than likely collins.

We are replacing recruiters with guys who actually coach and recruit. IMO Napier is a huge upgrade form Craig who was not a coach.

I know, but the African-American to European-American ratio of the staff will have changed. How will we ever get kids to come play here? Just thought i would get that out of the way early.

    We will recruit just fine.

Sanders' first game as offensive coordinator was the 1999 Fiesta Bowl when the Volunteers defeated Florida State for the national championship.

  • As a double graduate of Tennessee I know this guy as well as anyone. Please god dont let him become our OC. He is the bubble screen master. That said, he's a classic elite CFB coach. Straight up dick who can 'cruit very well (not great) and can develop players very well (not great).

  • People post random stuff all the time, myself included, but Bigern what in the blue hell do you mean when you say a career SEC OC coming in as a position coach is a plan D, settle for it kinda hire?

A LOT of ignorance in this thread so far. Folks having to google his name to know who he is and then declaring how good a hire it WOULD be.

Not my opinion, it was strictly from quickly researching the interwebz for some commentary about him.

Not sure what this means... Quality or not for FSU?

Did you see our QB play this year? Pretty erratic despite Jimbo being widely recognized as a great QB coach. Sometimes you got what you got.

Also, he's not an OC for us. He's coaching a position and recruiting.

  • I'm all for expressing our opinions on these boards and I respect everybody's right to do so. What I don't understand is why posters start ranting and raving about a potential hire, #1 rant, he is a terrible OC (he's isn't or wouldn't be hired as an OC), #2 rant, he is a terrible coach (his history says otherwise). Why not just let Jimbo do his job, he seems to be working out so far and if he hires the Easter Bunny to coach RB's who am I to tell him he made a bad hire. When FSU decides to pay me $2.5 million dollars a year then I will start telling everybody what a good or bad job our staff does.

I understand what you mean, I kinda get sick of it sometimes too but people pay their money to this site to get insight and give their opinions. Message board posters giving their opinion is not a revelation.

  • After living in Nashville during Sanders time at Tennessee, all I remember is his name being associated with flying remote controls and GD bombs.

But Tennessee fans are dumb and that was 10 years ago.

Anyone else think its kinda weird...with Stoops being the guy Sanders would be leaving?

agreed. Although I think Sanders and Napier are probably the last 2 staff members

  • There is a lot of back and forth in this thread over a tweet that said he is hearing(but not confirmed) yet josh and company here have not posted anything, unless missed it, that says Randy Sanders is a legit name.

I thought he worked for the former UK coach, not Stoops? Not sure though.

    Position coach fsufsu not OC.
Not to rain on the bash parade but Sanders did coach RB's Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, and Jay Graham at UT. Someone mentioned he coache 4 of the Top 6 RB's in Tennessee history. But carry on.

Not sure either. You'd think that Stoops would've had the option to retain him, no? If he isn't, then why?

B+ is fair and IMO an upgrade over Gran or Craig. B+ also for Napier.

Recruiting will fall slightly in Bama but rise slightly everywhere else.

Staff will have more gravitas than if Gran and Craig (or Burns) were here. A lot of high level OC experience on staff. not that it matters.

    Tom, understood.
