Lincoln,
I am no Jimbo apologist but all things considered this is a great hire.
That doesn't mean Jimbo did not underachieve the last 2 years. both can be true.

Sounds like a irrefutable evidence as to why you don't hire a coach who doesn't have any HC experience.... might want to go back in time, 3-years ago, and pass the word on, so we can make a more informed decision.

That's my biggest fear with Jimbo ... That we will be his Mich St. or Utah. He'll make his first time head coach mistakes at FSU and then figure it out in his next gig. It's much easier to change when there's a change of scenery too.

I hope we don't have to fire him... I hope he turns into the greatest coach ever... but not hiring an OC and retaining Trickett after 6-years of recruiting evidence, may be a hint... seems like a bad omen...

I'm really, really, really, hoping against 3.... we have a 100% fsufanforever certified methodology, that I guarantee will predict the rest of this guys future at FSU... and if it lands on 3, it's a complete crapshoot.

If he holds true to his 5 year plan a OC will be hired. As for Rick, I fully believe this is it for him. No more Clint should mean no more Rick....
We are deeper in talent than before Jimbo took over and should be able to move into a better place here on out. Granted nothing is a sure thing but the improvements have been noticeable...

Difference being, FSU would fire Fisher before he left. Saban and Urban were hired away.

No way of knowing these days. Coaches leave every where ay anytime. We just stole a Tennessee graduate from Tennessee and Miami stole an FSU graduate from FSU.

Jimbo has proven he can hire great recruiting coaches. He has proven nothing else...
3-years in, Saban and Meyers are holding national championships... and you guys are worshipping Jimbo for replacing staff with good recruiters.

Good job coming into an upbeat thread about a great thing that happened to our team and taking a steaming crap in it.

kum, you are right. Like Jimbo has stated several times, each team has a one year life span. You take it as it comes. Ideally, a little continuity would be good.
16, yes you are right. He was at SCar for 3 years. I'm sure he was instrumental in landing Lattimore.
btw, I was bummed about losing Napier. But what do you do? Sit around and sulk? Or go out and hire another great coach with superior recruiting ability? This is a great hire. Listen to the interview from the Tenn page and you have to come away impressed.

Why would that happen? He's been rumored for other jobs every year he's been here. Our admin has been very patient (or slow to react) when it comes to coaches. Jimbo isn't going to get fired unless we have an auburn type season and only then if he refuses to give up play calling duties (which imo is his get out of jail free card).
He could very easily get hired away.
