I am in sales. I know what happened because it happens every day. You get told no, you move on, few days later you hear that someone else heard no but came back 2 days later and pitched them again and got the business. Classic. Let's not take my opinion in another thread mar this thread though. Jimbo rocked out here.

I don't care what you do, to say Jimbo got his ass kicked cause he went to UM is BS.

Cool, and then if I called that opinion BS we'd be even and yet have accomplished nothing. It's not black and white so both of us can have very different opinions on it. I do the same job he does and what happened is a daily thing. I understand you're not impressed.

Has crap to do with being impressed, it is the fact that you make it sound like Jimbo went all out for him and lost. Yet there isn't anything to suggest that. As a matter of fact Josh addressed this last night. There was interest and that was about it.

    Great, go Noles.

  • Wonder how long he stays in Tally, esp. w/ some recruiting success. Obviously there are no loyalties to anything anymore.

  • Love the hire! Is this possibly a hire that is putting Randy Sanders finger print on taking over the offense?

  • I agree with fsufsu on this one and respect what he did by not continuing a pointless disagreement. I think everybody realizes this a great hire and that's really all that matters. I have faith that Jimbo will bring in the right piece for our final coach!

  • He's a really bright guy . And like Dawsey, he's has been to the next level, something all these kids want to do. I think that has a little extra resonance with his players and on the recruiting front. The biggest hurdle will be can we keep him here 3-4 years?

I also like how he preaches a physical downhill style. Which I would think would mean a little less zone blocking and more man, pulls and traps and fits our personnel better IMO.

He stayed at USCr for 3-4 years. I can see him staying here as long as we stay competitive with pay and he doesn't receive a good OC job.

  • You guys are some cool-aide drinking mofo's.

It didn't matter who was hired, half of you were gonna worship regardless....

And if he flees us in a month from now, you are going to throw a hissy fit...all of sudden it will become, "he's was a bad fit anyways"... and "i never liked the hire"

/Obvious troll, so please don't throw a hissy, but I'm just saying...

Widely regarded (even by the experts on this network) as a tremendous hire.

The other side of this coin is that some people will complain no matter what.

Great hire or not, it takes the right manager to quickly bring his coaching talent together...develop chemistry...and leverage it...

Jimbo hasn't proven that he possess this ability, thus far...as 3-years into his last "excellent coaching hires", with all the chemistry he developed.... he took a team with vastly superior talent, when compared to its opponents, and made them look so-so in more than half the games they played.

Jimbo has proven he can hire great recruiting coaches. He has proven nothing else...

3-years in, Saban and Meyers are holding national championships... and you guys are worshipping Jimbo for replacing staff with good recruiters.

  • it's epic, no make that mythic, we got an SEC coach-it's like a yeti just knocked on my door -selling girl scout cookies.

How did we ever take a coach away frm a team 200 million in debt...

GREAT HIRE!!! now if we could talk a certain ol coach into coming here and being oc... We could make Trickett TE coach or our new recruiting analyst or whatever Steele is at Bama. Hell, I bet we could get Steele here-being a te coach is better than not being a coach at all.
