I was happy to see Northern Illinois crash the BCS. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the moment. If the Huskies were playing any other team, I'd be cheering for them.
I do have a question: what do you think is a reasonable spread for this game, and what kind of a chance do you figure NIU has? There is no wrong answer here. I'm just curious because I went over to a Huskies board (on a different network) a couple nights ago, and I was surprised to see that most of the posters there were rather confidently predicting victory. I don't know if it was faith in the Huskies, a lack of respect for this FSU team, or some combination of both.

I'm brutally honest when it comes to this game. I think a -15 is a good spread because it's essentially a home game for you. Also, most NIU fans today are bandwagon fans who know very little about NIU and don't understand that while the 12-1 record is nice, with only one win against a ranked opponent, and just one win against a big 6 school, NIU is outmatched. A lot of my fellow students talk of Boise and forget that Boise won double digit games for 6 years before finally crashing the BCS. Plus before the last 2 years NIU had won just one 1 MAC title. But, I will say this. If and this is a big IF, FSU's front 7 plays like it did against GT, this game will be very close. Lynch isn't a true qb by any means, but his ability to make plays out of nothing reminds me of Denard. Also another note is that the MAC is looking to subsidize NIU so that they don't lose any money. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/colleges/post/_/id/8015/mac-may-subsidize-niu-trip-to-miami

I thought FSU's front 7 played decent against Ga Tech - the tough thing about playing that team is how much cut blocks go on and the option responsibilities; I imagine NIU does a lot of zone read? I think FSU will play that better.
If I were NIU, I'd be worried about the trenches - especially FSU's OL against NIU's DL...
