Most Biased Class Ranking

  • In looking at all the class rankings on all the sites out there, one more than any other just jumps out at how ridiculous it is.

    Tom Lemming had ND rated as the #1 class over at Maxpreps. I know the guy has always been a ND homer, but gimme a break! He gives no point totals to show how he arrives at his rankings. He has ND with the most "top 100" players. What does this guy do? Jack up a recruits ranking when he signs with ND and move them down if they don't?

    ND is nowhere close to being #1 in any other service. What a joke!

  • A factor in Lemmings ranking system involves how far a recruit lives from the signing school; example, here in Fl where we are blessed with a lot of in-state talent we don't have a plus added on to our rankings for a landing a quality player, versus a school like Notre Dame, who HAS to recruit from states that aren't close to Indiana, which gives them an increase in rankings. Its completely stupid, as it favors schools that recruit nationally, and penalizes schools who simply don't have to; but that in large part is why ND has such a high ranking. I still don't know how anyone continues to use him for anything but jokes at this point.

  • Watkins, I didnt know that. That is completely retarded! So if a player plays farther away from home, he will be a better player according to Lemming? I doubt even Lemming believes that. Seems like he rigged his system to get the results he wants. What a douchebag.

    Yeah it says on the site that distance from home is factored into his rankings. I dont think it says what proximity factors out positively on his scale but its gotta be the farther away from home the better if he has ND #1.

    I dont get worked up over anyones rankings but the guy seems like such a douche whenever he does interviews. Gotta give it to him though, despite it seeming that no one likes him he sure does rope in some high profile jobs.

  • I didnt even know Lemming was still around. I somehow wandered into CBSSportsline website and saw a recruiting link.........and I see they have Maxpreps doing their recruiting coverage? I didn't know Maxpreps was still around either. So I go directly to Maxpreps (a site that looks like a HS kid put it together) and Lo and Behold I see this ridiculous class ranking. Curious now, I poke around a little more because I can beleive any site would have ND as #1......and Lo and behold it is Tom Lemming doing the rankings. roflmao

  • Having ND at #1 is pretty crazy, but I'd also have to give honorable mention to ESPN's ranking of Florida's class. 5th? I'm sorry, but when your peers have them ranked at 19th and 27th, there are few occasions where you can justify giving a top-five ranking.

    Isn't it in Urban's new contract with ESPN that they have to keep the Gayturds in the Top 5 regardless of actual ranking?

    Surely that isn't supposed to mean "University of Florida State"? Anybody in college sports that calls FSU, UFS should be immediately fired on the spot.
