  • I have to say that I neer wonder to other team sites but I didnt tonight to get Miami's feel on Coley, Kirkland, Collins, Thomas, and Kerr.

It was a great time. I have not laughed so hard since I was a little kid listening to richard pryor. Holy hell that had some great quotes on that site with my favorite being this one:

"That's what I'm saying Tmac!!! Every year fans go crazy over this stuff. We have like 20 of 22 starters coming back next year and like 15 of them coming back the year after!!! We are in perfect shape to be a lil picky this year, because there is no doubt in my mind that this will be a top 10 team the next 2 years and with that comes better recruits."

Top 10 the next two years.....................baaaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

On the recruiting front in general it seems they are confident in Collins & Thomas but scared on the others.

I think we get Kirkland, Kerr, and Coley from that group. I have written Collins off and I am starting to get a bit worried on Thomas.

  • they will put up alot of points next year, most games will be a shoot out. Dunno about top ten, but I expect them to be ranked. Boston college had 18-22 return last year, see how that worked out.

All games are important, if you don't think so try losing one and see how people act.-B.Bowden

  • OcalaNole,

Dude you can't ever compare Boston College with Miami, that's like comparing FSU with FIU, simply put the talent level that each school brings in for
Playmakers is totally different, with that being said OP we are very confident with returning starters in the OL and a more seasoned WR corp. I would also like to add our TE unit will be pretty good this year. Also we have a pretty good QB coming back who will only get better in his growth.

Now the concern we have is our Defense if they play well, I can see us in the top 25.

This is mostly on point, IMO.

I think Miami will be in contention for the coastal division next year (which I realize isn't saying much right now) and should win against the likes of GT along with the bottom feeders of the ACC. They have one of the best offensive lines in the conference with a senior quarterback, that'll win you a few football games. Obviously the defense has to play better, but I definitely could see them popping in and out of the top 25 throughout the year.

Ocala, If you didn't realize it actually you did, Based on your last comment whereas you said " Boston College has 18-22 return last year, see how that worked out. That is viewed upon as a Comparison.

My Point is simple we did pretty good on Offense last year, and that is with a New RB, New QB and a revised WR corp.

Now had we had a Decent Defense last year we could have won 2-3 more games and Our Defense was Horrible the worst in Miami History, and that is saying a lot cause we have had some Damn good Defenses over the Years.

I expect us to win 9-10 games at least but like in anything in Life you never know what will happen, Take for example Texas A&M, I watched them last year under Coach Sherman and they had games where they were beating teams and then he got conservative with his playcalling and they ended up losing the game.

I saw what Coach Sumlin did at Houston, give him the resources and better talent and now you have Texas A&M, You can't tell me Miami can't have a good season with what is returning now No way am I am comparing Coach Sumlin to Golden cause I for one believe that Coach Sumlin is Special.

I will say this Coach Golden is great in Marketing a Product, He is well Organized and he has a Talent Base in South Fla that is endless those combination along continued with the Maturation Process in his Development will ensure he stays Successful.coffee

One problem, you're making the assumption that, since it's Miami, they're loaded with talent. Believe us, we were in that same boat several years ago. It wasn't until the losses and diminished draftees started to add up that we began to realize it. Boston College is much closer to Miami's talent level than you want to believe; and they are much closer in talent than FIU is with FSU.

Just because you return a lot of starters doesn't mean you'll be successful. Your defensive limitations aren't due to lack of experience, it's due to a lack of talent.

Well he certainly has the fan-base buying in. Now if he could leverage his "marketing" skills into recruiting success. The talent base is only beneficial if he signs those elite south Florida players. At this point, he hasn't shown the ability to consistently do so.

BCs talent level is no Where near ours offensively. However I have to agree with u on our defensive limitations.

"consistently". The class as a whole was not very impressive nor was the whole body of work surrounding that class.

& it will never appear to be great to outsiders (or even me) as long as he continues to recruit all of these unknown 3* & 2* players. It'll take a couple years to see how well he develops those players to see if he truly does have teh recruiting eye for players that scouting services misevaluate.

I guess u say That Because of all the 3 stars, but a lot of those 3 stars have really nice film and stats. I can name the ones I didn't like. Gray crow, jontavious Carter, Danny dillard, Larry Hope, Jake o'donell(until I saw his film) 4 out of 33 ain't bad...

Miami is far, far from loaded with talent. They return a lot of players, but very few good players.

Recruiting services don't miss on that many recruits. Miami may hit on a few (See FSU with Werner and Rhodes), but they will strike-out on many more. This isn't 1985, Miami is scouted 5x as heavily as any other city in America. There are very few "hidden gems" down there these days.

Every recruit looks good on tape, that's why it's called highlight film. Look, recruiting services aren't going to miss on that many recruits. Miami may hit on a few (See FSU with Werner and Rhodes), but they will strike-out on many more. This isn't 1985, Miami is scouted 5x as heavily as any other city in America. There are very few "hidden gems" down there these days. Miami has landed a few elite players and a few underrated guys, but the vast majority of their classes (over the last 3 years) have been filled with guys who belong on mid level ACC and Big East teams. They may allow Miami to be competitive, but they will never get back to elite status until they start landing elite players. There are a lot of disadvantages that Miami has in the recruiting game, but it boils down to resources.

  • Miami is an 7-5 maybe 8-4 for team next year. Their O will be pretty good next year but there D stinks and will stink

  • Fsukum,

Dude I have been following Miami for many years, I also remember when Rivals and Scout first started,so I for one can attest to the fact when I say we have talent and when I say we don't, the OL we have right now Overall is one of the most talented we have ever had in our history. Now the WR corp as I mentioned is talented but young, the RB situation is not as good as we have had in the past but Duke is one of the most talented backs he has good vision and burst as well as Speed, Now the QB situation is very good Stephen is as talented of a QB as we have had in years, one of the best arms since Jim Kelly and Vinny Testerverde now he has to improve on his accuracy and make better judgements with his progressive of reads.

Defense, that is our Main weakness but do not think we have No talent at all, look at Denzel Perryman, Eddie Johnson, Deon Bush, Ryan Jenkins , Tracy Howard, Raphael Kirby, Tyriq McCord and Olsen Pierre and Ladarius Gunter and Anthony Chickillo but add to theses players with a more seasoned players at Juco like Devonte Bond and good Juco Defensive Tackle, Which we are doing and add in some players like Artie Burns, Jamal Carter and some few Surprises that are coming this defense will be much better this year.

Every year (except) for last y'all were supposed to be back or on your way back. You guys always think you have this great amount of young talent that will take you back to being the U. Problem is, as your record shows nothing comes of it but mediocrity at best.
