The No. 17 Florida State men's golf team hosts the 2013 Seminole Intercollegiate this weekend beginning Friday, March 15 at 8:20 a.m. at the Southwood Golf Course. The Seminoles welcome this opportunity to play in front of a home crowd, especially starting the spring with two top three finishes. The Seminoles are set to tee off at 9:26 a.m. and attendance is free.
"Everybody is excited to play at home," said head coach Trey Jones. "After our last two finishes, we feel confident playing in front of our fans. Our goal is to win this tournament for a second year in a row and with our hard work these past two weeks, I look forward to seeing the results."
Sophomore Daniel Berger was named the Co-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for the month of February last week after winning the Gator Invitational and finishing tied for second at the USF Invitational. Freshman Hank Lebioda is coming off of his best finish of the year after finishing fifth at the USF Invitational.
Senior Doug Letson has finished in the top ten of the past two tournaments and looks to continue that streak this weekend. Joining the line-up for the first time this season is junior Joaquin Lolas. Junior Bjorn Hellgren's last tournament of the year was the Inverness Intercollegiate which was the first tournament of the year.
Playing as individuals this weekend is senior Chase Seiffert and freshmen Rowin Caron and Collin Engelhardt.
The Seminoles won the tournament last year by one stroke while Brooks Koepka took home the individual title.
