FLORIDA STATE VS. FLORIDA - A SERIES HISTORY
The Seminoles will play host to Florida marking the 64th meeting between the two in-state rivals, a series that dates to 1951 - the Seminoles' third longest series against a team from the state of Florida - behind its 66 meetings against Miami and its 65 meetings against Jacksonville. Florida State trails the series, 41-22, but earned three consecutive wins from 2006-2008, including a 70-66 upset of the reigning national champion Gators at Donald L. Tucker Center on Dec. 3, 2006. The 2012 matchup of the Seminoles and the Gators marks the fourth time in the last six meetings and the 10th time since 1993 that the game will be played in the month of December. A total of 15 of the Seminoles' 22 wins over the Gators have come during the month of December.
SNAER IS A CONSENSUS PICK AS A PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
Senior All-American Michael Snaer is recognized as one of the top college basketball players in the nation. He has been named to virtually every pre-season All-American team, the preseason All-ACC Team and was the runner-up for the preseason ACC Player of the Year award as voted on by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
SHANNON STEPPING UP AS A LEADER
Junior Terrance Shannon, who has asked the coaching staff to bring him off of the bench because he loves being the Seminoles' sixth man and bringing energy off the bench, continues to develop into one of the team's leaders. In addition to his becoming more of leader both vocally and by example for his teammates, he is the only player to lead Florida State (at least once already this season) in scoring (14 against Minnesota), rebounding (against South Alabama, Buffalo, Saint Joseph's and Minnesota), assists (Buffalo), steals (South Alabama) and blocked shots (Mercer). He enters Wednesday's game averaging a career high 10.7 points per game and a career-high 6.9 rebounds per game.
