FLORIDA STATE PLAYS HOST TO LOUISIANA MONROE IN POST EXAM GAME
Florida State, which won its most recent game with a 91-59 victory over Maine on December 9, plays host to Louisiana Monroe on December 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have now completed their fall semester exam period with a return to classes coming on January 7. Florida State will play five games (including its game against the Warhawks) before beginning classes for the spring semester. The Seminoles' game against Louisiana Monroe is their final game of a six-game homestand which began with a 75-67 win over North Florida on Nov. 21. Following Monday's game against Louisiana Monroe, the Seminoles will travel to play Charlotte at the Time Warner Arena (home of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats) on Dec. 22 before traveling to play Tulsa in the Orange Bowl Classic on Dec. 29 at the BB&T Center (home of the NHL's Florida Panthers). The Seminoles will play their first true road game of the season on January 2, 2013 when they travel to play Auburn at the Auburn Arena.
FLORIDA STATE VS. LOUISIANA MONROE - A SERIES HISTORY
Florida State will play host to Louisiana Monroe on December 17 marking the second appearance at the Donald L. Tucker Center for the Warhawks. The Seminoles hold a 1-0 series lead with the only previous game coming in Tallahassee and under head coach Leonard Hamilton. The Seminoles first game against the Warhawks came on December 2, 2005 and was an 85-62 Seminole win. Florida State's game against Louisiana Monroe will mark the second of two regular season games against a team from the Sun Belt conference this season. The Seminoles are 35-6 against teams from the Sun Belt the conference.
ALL-AMERICAN SNAER CONTINUES TO LEAD SEMINOLES
All-American Michael Snaer, one of only three players to rank in the top 20 of the scoring (11th), rebounding (tied for 17th) and free throw shooting percentage (sixth) categories in the ACC, is off to the best start of his career. The preseason All-American and All-ACC selection enters Monday's game against Louisiana Monroe averaging a career-high 14.2 points scored per game and a career-high 5.6 rebounds per game. Snaer scored a team-high and game-high tying 19 points in Florida State's win over Maine and has now scored at least 19 points in three of the Seminoles' first nine games of the season. He has scored 1,199 points and will become only the 24th player in school history with 1,200 or more career points scored with his next basket.
SEMINOLES MOVE THE BALL AGAINST MAINE
Florida State recorded its best assist:turnover ratio of 2.3:1 (16 assists against only seven turnovers) in its win over Maine on Dec. 9. It marked the fourth time this season (all in wins against Buffalo, BYU, Saint Joseph's and Maine) that the Seminoles have recorded a positive (or even) assist:turnover ratio. Florida State recorded 21 assists in its win over Saint Joseph's (Nov. 17) in the championship game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic and totaled 20 assists in its win over BYU in the semifinals of the event.

...Defeat Louisiana Monroe and win its second consecutive game. The Seminoles defeated Maine on December 9 and have won four of their last seven games entering its game against the Warhawks; ...Defeat Louisiana Monroe and win its second game in the month of December. The Seminoles have earned a winning record in the month of December in 11 consecutive seasons, including each of Leonard Hamilton's first 10 seasons in Tallahassee.
FLORIDA STATE SHOOTS THE BALL WELL FROM LONG RANGE
Led by three 3-point field goals each by All-American Michael Snaer and junior Okaro White, Florida State tied its season high with 11 3-point field goals made in its win over Maine. The Seminoles are shooting .471 from the bonusphere as a team in their five wins - All-American Michael Snaer is shooting .500 (14 of 28) from long range in those five wins. Florida State enters Monday's game against Louisiana Monroe ranked third in the ACC with a .392 shooting mark from long range.
FLORIDA STATE IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS FROM LONG RANGE
Florida State tied its season high with 11 3-point field goals made in its victory over Maine and is 3-0 this season (with wins over Buffalo, BYU and Maine) when it has made 10 or more shots from the bonusphere. The Seminoles have proven to be one of the ACC's top 3-point shooting teams in the last five seasons, as they are shooting nearly 40 percent from long range since the start of the 2008-09 season. Florida State is 13-2 (.867 winning percentage) in the last five seasons when it has made 10 or more 3-point shots in a single game, including making 11 in its ACC Championship clinching-win over North Carolina on March 11, 2012. The Seminoles were 11-22 (.500) from the bonusphere in beating the No. 4 ranked Tar Heels for the first ACC Title in school history.
SEMINOLES SUCCESSFUL WHEN WINNING POINTS OFF TURNOVER BATTLE
With nine steals and 19 forced turnovers, Florida State outscored Maine, 23-6, in the points off turnover category in the Seminoles' 91-59 win over the Black Bears on Dec. 9. The Seminoles have won the points off turnover battle in each of their five wins (and two of its losses to South Alabama and Mercer) but lost the battle to both Florida and Minnesota. Florida State averages 8.2 steals in its five wins and only 6.8 steals in its four losses and has forced an average of 15.0 turnovers in its five wins.
BLOCKS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IMPORTANT TO FLORIDA STATE'S DEFENSE
Florida State led the ACC in blocked shots during the 2011-12 season (6.1 bpg) and enters Monday's game against Louisiana Monroe averaging 4.0 blocked shots per games. The Seminoles average 5.2 blocks per game in their five wins (including a season high eight blocked shots in their win over BYU) while averaging only 2.7 blocked shots in their four losses (including zero blocked shots in their loss to Florida). Florida State averages 2.7 blocks per game more in their wins with at least five blocked shots in five different games so far this season. Freshman Boris Bojanovsky, who has blocked multiple shots in three of the Seminoles' nine games played this season is the team leader with eight blocked shots.
