Mass Exodus Of Coaches Is A Bit Alarming

  • I know they've all been promoted, which is a great thing for them, but losing this many coaches in 1 offseason is unheard of.

It really is, speaks how broke we are and how hard it is to actually work with Jimbo IMO. Jimbo better get on the ball or this class could be his downfall. 2014 anything less than 2 losses say goodbye

  • So, seriously, is any of this because Jimbo is that hard to work with? Wish I could get straight poop from someone who knows.

How does it speak to how hard it is to work with Jimbo?? They all left for promotions and more money. If anything it speaks to how well Jimbo can put a staff together...

I can agree. Any other staffs lose 4-5 coaches this year? Without the HC getting fired

All games are important, if you don't think so try losing one and see how people act.-B.Bowden

  • I was actually thinking the same thing. Its alarming but I cant say its negative. These guys are getting promotions and more money. I cant really blame them for leaving, however I do not think its great for the overall program at this time due to recruiting. If Jimbo can land some slam dunk hires then all will be fine, but the problem is he hasnt even filled the vacancies he already has.

Why does it even matter? Saban is hard to work with and he seems to do just fine for himself. I don't get why some of our fans get so hung up on him possibly not being the biggest friend to all the coaches in the locker room. I don't care if they're friends. As long as they have a respect for each other and want to achieve the same goal in Tallahassee, a NC, then I'm cool with whoever comes or goes. This is their job. I would hope anyone we hire can keep it professional even if they don't exactly mesh personally. As long as they're the best man for the job then I don't care if they never talk outside of work.

  • You guys realize that all the coaches that left did so for raises and promotions? Stoops HC Elliot DC CRAIG Co-OC/Goobs of money Gran OC. Im not trying to be a sunshine pumper but those are facts! We had no turn over in 3 years. This was bound too happen when your successful!

  • It's not alarming or negative. They are all getting promoted, getting more money. If there is any reason for concern, it's that we're not bringing in enough money.

LOL, you act like you know so much. Catch up on your reading material is been put out there numerous times that Jimbo is very hard to work for not saying that is a bad thing or not. What is more alarming that we have been out bid on almost ever other coach that seems to be a target. You also need to grow the hell up and quit with the down voting game you got going on.

Ha, Ha... Jimbo haters are out in full effect with the down votes... Pvssies....

  • Not alarming one bit. Stoops and DJ got major promotions and raises. Eddie Gran finally got an OC gig and pay raise. DC got an OC gig and likely a nice pay raise. Hudson was not going to be retained or was politely pushed out the door.

If anything, its shocking that Jimbo was able to keep this group together for 3 years. Not saying we won't miss some of them, but people getting promoted and getting raises does not reflect negatively on Jimbo at all.

exactly I'm sure if we did what Auburn did (from my understanding 900k and co- OC) it might be a different story today. AU is cleaning our clock taking Ellis Johnson and now Craig for more Money. If this keeps up someone sooner or later is going to get Jimbo.

  • Its alarming and negative when the timing of it happens. 1 month before NSD and he is a key recruiter for some of our top guys.

    NoleAkiefer

  • Jimbo doesn't always play well with others, but that isn't the reason that coaches are leaving.

Stoops: He was always going leave for a HC job. He could have left last year, but we were fortunate enough to get another year out of him.

Eliot: He was always going to leave when Stoops left. No surprise there.

Gran: I'll admit, Gran came out of nowhere. But he has a stronger connection with Tubberville and it IS a promotion.

Hudson: He has his own issues to work through and he never really panned out here.

Craig: He left for what appears to be a $200,000 raise. If Auburn wants to overpay, let them overpay.

We just have to trust that Jimbo brings in some quality guys and I think he is off to a good start.

It has nothing to do with money. NOTHING. how broke we are. Please. Our salaries are competitive in the market place. We chose not pay Johnson 850k. He is not worth it. 61 years old, marginal recruiter, good but not great dc. Auburn overpays for coaches. If auburn wants to be stupid with its money then let it be stupid. We should not.

Gran was shown the door. So a coach leaves before he is forced to resign and that proves what?

Stoops got an hc job-why would he stay. Eliot was offered a dc job at KY and he was not here-why would he stay.

As to Craig, how much is a recruiter/non coach worth? Not much IMO. They grow on trees. Yes, even people who recruit as well as craig. however, i suspect auburn paid stupid money again. Why? Because (1) Malzahn has a small window , 2 years, to perform to keep his job and because of that fact (2) they have to overpay to get coaches because coaches may be looking for another job in 2 years.

Next week we will hear how we can't compete with the money of ECU when Hudson goes home.

Jimbo is hard to get along with? Talk to someone that has worked for Saban. Jimbo is a dream compared to him.

also talk to someone that worked for Meyer at UF-a true bastard as a boss. at least at UF IDK at OSU.

If the asst coaches can't take a coach who is a hard ass then the team will be soft.

Makes sense, except for the Gran part. Not sure where you heard that but Im pretty sure he left for a raise, a promotion to OC and he's great friends with Tuberville

We are not offering market Value. We just paid a guy that has Zero DC experience in college football for what close 500,000? Kentucky offered Eliot 1 mil "KENTUCKY FOOTBALL" . We are paying at a mid level market
