The SEC will go after V Tech first. New market for them. Not sure what Clemson would bring over FSU. We have a national footprint. Ga Tech brings little. After that maybe NC State for the N. Carolina market. Little else of value to SEC in the ACC. We need to start lobbying quickly.

We aren't going anywhere. I have no faith that Barron will do anything for athletics. Maryland based the decision on Athletics and Barron puts more emphasis on academics. Plus we have no one willing to take us at the present time.

Yep, Va. Tech and NC State have been the reported #15 and #16 teams for about a year now in SEC circles. Most of us would love to invite FSU, but Florida will absolutely not allow it. They, Georgia, and South Carolina made a pact years ago to vote against a second team in any existing SEC state (in other words, you, Ga. Tech, and Clemson). Mike Slive will not do anything as major as adding another school without existing SEC presidents' unanimous approval. This is also what prevented Oklahoma from coming to the SEC last year; they were a package deal with OK. State, and that did not serve the SEC's interests. The only double down they would accept would be Texas, but the Big 12 wrote a much better buyout than the ACC, apparently. It will be a dozen years before raiding the Big 12 is even an option.
If the Big 12 decides to make a southeastern statement and the ACC starts blowing up, they would be wise to invite you, Ga. Tech, Clemson, Duke, Miami, and Louisville to immediately go to 16. Those will be the best choices on the board and will bring a ton of TV markets. There is nothing more of value to the Big 12 by looking west.

Those that leave the ACC and join the BIG, the BIG fronts the $50 mil for them and they pay back over several years out of their conference earnings.
So, the BIG is going to take 2 more teams I believe, I understand GaTech has approached the BIG, I'm hoping we get to 16 and leave Notre Dame out in the cold as the ACC crumbles.
