Linebacker Class

  • It seems like we are going to take 3 (maybe 4 depending on attrition) at the position. Who does everyone want? I feel like Matthew Thomas is the prototype OLB who is priority number 1a right now. I also think Levenberry can play either of the positions and is priority 1b. If we were to nab the two studs, who does everyone like as the third guy? I would love to add Yannick Ngakoue out of Friendship Academy in DC. Michael Deeb could also be a potential guy as he is a prototype MLB. I know Mathis is a guy who is probably a plan B guy but he is dying to be a nole and we could do worse with a 3rd LB. What does everyone else think.

My dream class right now would be

    Matthew Thomas
    EJ Levenberry
    Yannick Ngakoue

  • My LB class would consist of

    Mathew Thomas---OLB
    EJ Levenberry---OLB
    Micheal Deeb----MLB

    one of
    George Williams
    Wendell Dunn
    Yannick Ngakoue

  • I think we need 4 after signing just 3 LB's combined in the previous 2 classes.

Matthew Thomas can play that WLB position, which is the hardest of the 3 to play. To be honest, MLB and SLB are basically like the same position in this defense. All the tackles are funnelled to those 2 guys which is why you see Bradham and Vince with the most tackles.

    My opinion...

Levenberry is a definite guy you want on the inside.
Matthew Thomas, like I said, WLB.
Daniel McMillan, not sure where he stands, but he is a SLB.
I also agree that Ngokoue is a very good player that we can take, again, probably a SLB.

    As far as Floridians go...

    Michael Deeb is an ILB.
Jermaine Grace would be a better space LB.
Corey Vereen, seems more like a Brandon Jenkins rush end to me.
George Williams and Jeremy Benjamin are big hitters, definite inside backers.
Isaac McDonald can play that WLB if we needed him to.
Mathis, not a Floridian, but will never get an offer from FSU, IMO.

I am not calling it a dream, because what's the point if it couldn't realistically happen?

    Levenberry
    Thomas
    Ngakoue
1 more depending on what we are looking for.

  • Gotta be Levenberry, Thomas, Ngakoue, and if we feel they're good enough, one of George Williams/Michael Deeb/Jermaine Grace, but that might be too many. Love the way George Williams hits though.

  • If we go ~12-2 we will sign something rid-damn-iculous like....

    Levenberry, Deeb, Thomas, Yannik

and fowler was a seminole. First coast has sent a lot of kids to FSU and we took a LB from there last year. I really doubt we are fully out of it with him. Just like you guys with fowler, I see him flirting with us at some point.

    mmusi34

  • I'm sure FSU will continue to recruit McMillan. You don't concede anyone. UF didn't concede the DE that they got on NSD.

  • I agree with all of you, I only said that cause it didnt seem like he knew McMillian was already committed.. All I know is McMillian got real close with Q Powell an J Hearns this weekend on his visit an Powell ended up pulling the trigger while he was down here.. Weve got an article up from when McMillian committed an he was saying he knew for a while he was gunna committ to UF...But like yall said, it could all change

I believe you have SLB and WLB backwards. WLB is the second mlb and thats where Nigel played.

I agree with your needs. Thomas and Levenberry are important, the other 2 are upside guys

True. We appear to play a lot of 4-3 "over" or "strong" scheme where the WLB and the MLB each line up over a guard and the SLB is flexed out wide of the TE.

  • My way to early list is: (assuming that McMillian stays committed to UF)

    Levenberry
    Thomas
    Ngakoue

    One of:

    Deeb
    Dunn

Williams has some nice film, but at 5'11" do you think he gets and offer given our size requirements at the LB position?
