Watson, if you haven't seen it.

Thats a bad looking dude right there.

  • When does camp start up again? Wondering when Watson can start taking reps with the OL.

    EnterTheOcho

  • I'd be shocked if stork isn't starting somewhere.

    canolee

  • erving
    matias
    barron/Stork
    jackson
    Stork/Watson

I think Barron, Stork and Watson fill 2 of the three spots with erving, matias and jackson locked in as starters

  • I agree with canolee, Stork will find a home somewhere in the starting five.

IMO, he'll prove to be a valuable asset given the youth and relative inexperience along our front. His read/rec of opposing defensive fronts and ability to make the appropriate calls will be the deciding difference.

The camp competition to watch will be a C and RT. In the end, I think Stork will ultimately end up sliding back inside to C and one of Glauser, Watson, Hart will push for and end up winning the job at RT.

  • Will be interesting to see if they redshirt Hart should Watson take the job and Stork win second place.

i find it interesting that hart was the first freshman off the bench but he is now completely written off by the fans. I am extremely interested in this OL battle.

If trickett doesnt get the OL ready this will be another top 5 talent FSU team that loses 3 or 4 games

    LT:Erving LG:Matias C:Barron RG:Jackson RT:Stork

that was basically the starting 5 at the end of spring and it should be the how we go in to 2 a days.... I understand the thinking that Stork goes back inside, but I can't imagine trickett/fisher working him at RT all spring just to throw him back to the interior....

I could see Watson taking RT if he can pick up the playbook fast enough... Would be the best case scenario imo

Pretty much how I see it. Glauser backing up. Watson could be a wild card like swizz said. Hart too.
Feels good to see some depth finally.

  • I still can't get past how Barron was manhandled by UM De's playing dt. He looked OK when we went to the spread against ND. VT and uf will eat Barron for lunch. It will be critical that Stork is center against teams with Gown ass men for dl's. we only face 2 maybe 3 with um of them this year.

Glauser is not good enough to start.

So i see Erving, Stork at center, Jackson, Matias and Hart. Maybe Krug could play off tackle. who knows? IMHO Watson will not be close to being ready from a S&C standpoint to be a starter at the beginning of the year. Maybe by the end of the year.

  • 27, I agree with you on Stork vs Barron at center.

I don't think Krug would be able to slide laterally and pass protect at RT. My guess is he would get knocked off balance far too often or just get beat with speed rushers and blitzers on the edge. But not the craziest idea. And it seems like Trick is willing to try everything. As bad as it was last year, you better turn over every stone.

Orelus doesn't have an ideal OT body, but he is better playing laterally in space and with balance. Problem is, is he healthy?

TNOLE have you seen Watson??! If he doesn't start it won't be because of S&C. It will be because he hasn't picked up the offensive schemes.

He was a professional boxer so he knows work ethic. Not sure I can agree with this. One of the few solid reports we've gotten this summer is that Menelik is always out there running stadiums to get ready.

You must have missed the picked posted by oline in this thread. Watson very well may not start, but it won't be because he's not physically ready.

Watson was at a Juco which means no S & c program. So he did not really start s& c until he arrived on campus.

He may have the conditioning part down pat. He may also be a hard worker. However, he has not had access to the proper facilities until his arrival @ FSU.

Canollee, I assume Orleus is not very healthy or we would. See more from him. I hope I am wrong.

  • Watson sounds like a really motivated, hard working kid. The question is, if he has some early set backs, will he call it quits? Hasn't he already gone down the boxing and basketball road? Although, some times desperation is a good thing. He should be plenty hungry. I've seen him play/move. It will all be about learning the offense and playing with more aggression.

If he wins the RT spot and isn't handed it(don't think it will be, but first two warm up games may be the test) it gives our OL a chance to be very good.

27, if Orelus can get himself healthy by mid season, then it actually may work out better that he is fresh, when other guys are starting to break down. He could give us a shot in the arm down the stretch if needed. Although, we want the OL to play as 1, so the fewer the in-season changes, the better.

    canolee

  • Lol "proper" facilities or not, strength and conditioning will be the last thing to keep Watson out of the job. Let's just be real, dude is a freak.

I hope it works out like this....

    Erving Matias Stork Jackson Watson
