Latest on Lynch from Blue&Gold (our Notre Dame site)...

  • I am sure Josh will have more later, but here's what our Notre Dame site is reporting...

Coming off of a strong performance at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, defensive end Aaron Lynch of Cape Coral, Fla., was going to decide whether he wanted to stay committed to Florida State or not.

After meeting with coaches from the Seminoles staff and Notre Dame coaches, notably strong recruiter Tony Alford also making the trip to San Antonio, Texas, the highly touted Island Coast High player first informed BlueandGold.com of his decision.

"I decommitted," the 6-5, 245-pound player said via text.

  • This is NOT going to end well...

    Mr Mook

  • Could be true. No more early enrollee, wants to check things out, and is willing to finish school and report to a school he signs with on NSD. Or it gets people off his back and he will be in class on monday. This thing is FAR from over... weird turn of events. I can confirm out staff thought it was over after the conversation they had with them.

Tom, do you see any possibility that our staff is getting frustrated with how Lynch keeps going back and forth? .. And if that's the case, do you think they just forget about him at some point .. ala Cortez?

    Mr Mook

  • I could see our staff cutting off communication with him if this turns out to be true. We don't have time to baby primadonnas and their mothers. If he doesn't think he's good enough to play at Florida State, then he's probably better off at ND.

  • Gotta wonder about this nonsense, hope its not true.......

As for cutting ties.........tough call, but i would probably tell him once he decommitted that we were done, and focus fully on Rasco, or another DE if we truly want another one in this class.

I agree 100%. Games are for kids. This really shows a lot about his work ethic. Who is he scared of? Clowney? We barely have a shot at a visit at this point... very strange. I know for a fact, our staff was confident it was done after speaking with him. Not impressed how Lynch's "team" are handling themselves.

  • If in fact he did decommit I say we put the full court press on Rasco and don't look back especially with what we already have commited for 2012 in Fowler and Casher and looking good for Edwards Jr

  • this crap is so old. kid is talented and i'd love to have him, but at this point i wouldn't mind if jimbo said screw it and stopped recruiting him. i can't believe this kid's mom is being so ridiculous...it is obvious she does not care about his wishes...if she did he would have never been a notre dame commit.

  • Yes. I am not doubting our Notre Dame site, but kids text and say all sorts of stuff these days. It's almost wise to wait until it's confirmed on both ends of the situation.

Josh has been all over this from the start and will continue to be. I just wanted to pass along what the latest was.

If you are comfortable with it, then I am. Like I was implying, you know him better than I do and you would know if it wasn't on the up and up. This recruitment will be strange for awhile... He got what he wanted, he is the news. Little did he know that his play would have been the focal point of the news, but now it will be overshadowed by his recruitment.

"Lynch's play in the All American game was tremendous but his recruitment is just plain strange and full of twists...Let's focus on that" lol

Alice Lynch is merely doing what a mother should do. She is looking out for her son's future. She clearly thinks that he will have a more successful future with a Notre Dame degree! agreed

The simple production and improvement of Brandon Jenkins, Markus White, Bjorn Werner, and Dan Hicks show that DJ Eliot knows what he is doing and can really make a player become an elite DE. I think Lynch's best opportunity to get to the next level and see the first round is at FSU. It's tough to argue with the progression and improvement of Jenkins and especially White. White was not gonna get drafted and now has scouts looking at him hard.

nonetheless, this kid has frustrated the hell out of me but I would enjoy seeing him succeed. I never wish ill will on a kid.

Yup I can see it now, de-commit, enroll at ND but fail to qualify, then cry for the rest of your life knowing that momma should never make a decision for you.

What kind of a kid does the chop on national TV then de-commits hours later ? the kind of kid I no longer want anywhere near this team, that is who.

I hope he does go to ND, he will fail out or transfer in no time.

Does he fit in a 3-4 ? nope

Is he miles away from home and his momma who makes all his decisions for him ? yes

Does he love FSU ? yes

Is he not very smart and capable of making a stupid choice, or allowing somebody else to make decisions for him ? yes

Has he flipped back and forth, and then back and forth again during recruiting ? yes

Are these the signs of a transfer candidate ? yes

I'll know more today. I feel that Lynch said what's in the article, but the way things have been going back and forth is crazy.

Like I've said all along, we won't really know until monday-wednesday what is truly going on here.
