Kirkland tells UM thanks, but no thanks
They tried.
UM coaches met with Booker T. All-American offensive tackle Denver Kirkland Saturday and his mother, but weren't able to sway him to commit.
Kirkland's stepfather Shanton Crummie told CanesInsider's Brandon Odoi Kirkland will choose between FSU and Miami.[sic?]
A source told The Miami Herald, assistants Art Kehoe, James Coley and Micheal Barrow were among those who attended the meeting. Head coach Al Golden the source said was not there.
Crummie didn't return phone calls from The Herald.
UM still has hope it will land Kirkland's teammate star linebacker Matthew Thomas. National Signing Day is Wednesday

It's all good. I'm just glad as hell you were wrong. And I must say that I would have been very disappointed in Denver and his family.
I don't think there was any way Miami could smooth out what happened.
