    Work for a team with an offensive coordinator who has proven to be iffy, who is having major coaching turnover, who is losing a significant portion of your side of the football this year, after posting 2 top-5 seasons on defense. Who can't pay you as much. (high risk)

    Work for a team who has won 3 of 4 last NC's, for a coach who can manage your side of the equation while you learn. Who will pay you more (0 risk)

    I completely agree you get more experience / better experience at FSU, but after Bama wins the NC next year, his stock value would be FAR higher....and have far less risk.

    The only people who would advise him not do take the Alabama job = FSU Fans.... For people with no dog in the race, it's not even debatable.

    His stock would be higher? Why hasn't smart landed a big time job yet? Stoops got an SEC job without winning the NC. He had a top defense because his ability to coach and the players you get at FSU. The end game is being a head coach you get there faster at FSU than Bama.

    Smart hasn't landed a big time job yet because there are very few big time jobs out there. He was close to taking the Auburn job. He has had chances to taken mid-level jobs such as Kentucky, but he is only leaving for a destination job.

    Auburn is. He was very close to taking that job from all accounts. Not sure which side broke talks down. Tennessee never was going after him since they just fired a Saban guy in Dooley.

  • Kirby Smart is the coach in waiting at about 10 schools right now. He will pick his new job when he sees it. The idea of him being the Philly DC is a little surprising to me, but who knows.
