Jimbo Fisher on BCS: "I think it stinks."

  • Fisher railed on the BCS pretty hard in his presser today.

"I think it stinks," he said.

Fisher believes there should be more human element in the polls.

"They've got to change how we pick the top teams in this country," he said.

Said he doesn't think the new playoff will help either.

  • So, what does he suggest?

    So, what does he suggest?

He wants to have humans be more involved. I guess that means more weight to coaches polls and media polls.

  • He's right because the new system won't fix the problem. These computers have a built-in SEC tilt. How does a computer know the difference between an 4-0 Alabama team and a 4-0 USC team? There would have to be a built-in bias, especially in the case if two different teams played cupcakes before they went into their conference play.

If only the ACC, outside of Clemson & Virginia Tech, took itself more seriously when it came to football. Too many state schools in the conference for this conference to be so relatively weak and undisciplined on defense.

Also, CAN WE KICK OUT BOSTON COLLEGE ALREADY?!?!?!?!

No because BC, despite their struggles, are a FOOTBALL school. Which is more than can be said for half of this conference.

I feel what Jimbo is saying but he may want to take a long hard look at our OOC slates. The junior high teams won't help us.

  • West Virginia killed you guys this year by bailing on that game.

Not FSU's fault the ACC, as a whole, is lousy.

  • This is the bed you lay in when you stay in the ACC.

  • I wouldn't overreact to our computer ranking this season. This was a historical low with regards to what our SOS will look like. Factor in all of these things...

    - If we can help it, we will NEVER play two D-1aa schools in a season. This 1 occurrence alone, killed our computer number.
    - Also factor that this was as bad as the ACC has ever been. It is highly unlikely that we will see the ACC this poor again.

If you exchange Savannah State for ANY D-1 school (insert Middle Tennessee State), and just 1 ACC team in the Coastal excels (insert VT, UM, GT, UNC), and then our computer number jumps about 10 spots.

Now, if we play a team like Oklahoma State or Northwestern instead of Savannah St., then our number goes even higher. We really NEED 3 tough games on the schedule and then some other games that are at least decent. This year we had just 2 tough games and very few decent ones.

  • I know this isn't exactly what it means, but the BCS selection process is 100% a human element. Computers don't arbitrarily select teams, they are programmed (by a human) to select teams.

    Yep.

FSU in the Big 12 would be sweet.
