A offensive lineman does not need speed, so I do no care if he runs 5'4 or 4'6 if he cannot block and does not have good feet. Look at Hudson for example he ran in the high 5'0s at the combine but he was one of the best linemen in the nation.
We hear ya. That's what I was hinting at when I said he's quick as well. A 5 yard explosion time from a stance is most applicable for OL.
I'm not really sure if this is a debate or just a message board misunderstanding. His speed, combined with his basketball agility, combined with his impressing a major trainer in the boxing community, speak to his having the abilities.
Yes, the forty time is the least relevant. But the forty time is the most overvalued measuring stick in football history. Jerry Rice ran a slower forty 4.71 than we're talking about Watson running, and I'm not stating Watson should then be moved to receiver.
But all of these things together speak to athleticism that we haven't seen at the tackle spot in years.
I think he's going to have a tough time in the first part of the year. I think he'll progress. I hope he becomes solid to very good by the end of the season. I really think he'll be a monster in year two.

What about how often Trickett pulls OL?
What about screen plays?
Speed is def needed. If Speed didn't matter then why the heck would the NFL combine measure OL 40 times?

Is the 40 time actually correct on Watson?
