Important summer ahead

FSU's young offensive line has an important summer ahead as they try to continue their progression into the fall and the 2012 season.

  • When you have to go against the #4 Defense in the nation everyday, you either get a whole heckuvalot betta, or you get kilt!

If they can just give EJ 1.5 seconds more to work with, I believe we'll see less under and overthrows.

  • The o-line was all mix and matched so hopefully the summer to get stronger, better conditioned and work with each other more will be just what the doctor ordered. It would be nice to see Menelik jump in and start at RT. This line could be REALLY good this season.

  • I love this. This makes my heart feel so good seeing how big these OL are. Other then Barron (still close to 300 at 295), we have some huge OL ... FINALLY! I personally want to see knee braces on all OL much like Oklahoma. In case they rolled up on, it's a greater possibility that it will not be as bad as it could be.

They guys are Sophomores, so these kids will be strong and huge in a couple of years. So looking forward to that!

  • I thought Matias and Cam were impressive in the Spring game....looking forward to seeing them together on the left side of the line.

I feel good about the line if we can get RT settled.

  • This OL has a large # of doubters to prove wrong. Just read these boards.

Do I think our guys have potential to be great? Absolutely, but college football winning isn't determined on potential. I want to see our men manhandle a team and run for over 300 yards. IT.CAN.BE.DONE.THIS.YEAR......in more than 3 games.

I thought both were good as well, but Jackson was much better than Matias in the game [from what I saw] You could see Matias slow down in the second half, and Demonte beat him bad more than one time. I'm chalking that up to conditioning though, because he was firing off the ball, and blocking his man int he first half.

  • I got a starting OL of
    LT- Cam
    LG - Matias
    C - Barron
    RG - Tre
    RT - Glasuer/Stork/Watson

I think this line will be a huge upgrade and I am excited to see the offense with these guys paving the way.

  • They will improve by the week over the coming months. They have elite frames and athleticism. Conditioning and technique are their mountains to climb.

Orelus, Faircloth, Fahrenkrug, and even Foose better show some leadership by trying to outwork them/push them this summer.

lol, yeah I was the one who posted that he likely doesn't even exist. Notice I said "and even...."

Basically his value lies in that he can at least work really hard and set an example for his teammates (not saying they need it but every leader helps out).

    And Demonte is good.

  • Demonte looked like the best DT on the team and like he has finally realized the potential that made everyone call him one of the best 3 tech prospects in years.

And he's a redshirt junior, look at that - on schedule.

Unfair to judge Matias against him.

  • IMHO I don't see them redshirting Hart. shrug

I hope they do. But I worry that he will sulk and seek a transfer. But we still have this summer and fall camp. Maybe he gets his mind right and comes back for fall camp with some attitude.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think he should be a guard. His athleticism is very good, but his kick slide and lateral movement is not great. He would be a great pulling guard once he grows into his strength, IMO.

  • IMO Stork will end up starting at center unless tackle is in such bad shape they have to leave him out there. If watson, who has 4 months experience and is coming in july is one of the starters at the beginning in 2012 we are in trouble.

If he picks it up quickly who knows by the end of the seaon.

It would be ideal to redshirt him - I think he has 3 to play 2.

I suspect hart will be the starting tackle.

at least our line is beginning to look the part. we'll find out in august if they can play the part

I don't think he has a redshirt year left. Believe he is 2 to play 2 based on when he entered Marist.
