I'll just leave this here

  • Point your finger and laugh at Lemming.

Al Golden is a young Nick Saban, recruiting expert says

CORAL GABLES They might may not be names most Miamians want their coaches compared to, but this is a complement.

  • Not mad, just laughing. Golden is barely above 500. Yet is being compared to Saban. You guys do well to keep us entertained.

  • ""Believe me, colleges will use anything to help benefit themselves in recruiting so they were using that against Miami like crazy," Lemming said. "If that gives you any indication how good Al Golden is as recruiter, he still did well."

Really? Yeah because he stole so much talent out of the Miami area....every highly rated recruit Miami has gotten since Golden has been there has come out of the Miami area. Urban and Saban take recruits from all over the south and country.

Let's take a look at every 4* or better recruit Golden got last year, easily his best class to date:

    Deion Bush - Dade
    Jelani Hamilton - Broward
    Ereck Flowers - Dade
    Tracy Howard - Broward
    Duke Johnson - Dade
    Malcolm Lewis - Broward
    Herb Waters - Dade
    Tyriq McCord - Tampa
Robert Lockhart - VA except he's from south FL
Raphael Kirby - Stone Mountain, GA

They get hardly any talent from anywhere outside of Miami. Yeah, Miami has a lot of talent but guess what....the SEC didn't get dominant off Dade county talent. There's a lot more parity now in CFB and Miami can't expect to rely on only being successful recruiting that area anymore....well, if they could get literally every top recruit from Dade/Broward then they could; however, that's not the case and that will never happen again based on how recruiting has changed so much since the days they were able to handpick any Miami kid. It has nothing to do with Golden. The recruits Golden is more responsible for are the 2*s and 3*s that he stole from Temple. The recruits listed above went to Miami because it's Miami, because UF/FSU stopped pursuing them, or because Miami's depth chart currently looks awesome since they have no depth.

  • Dude it doesnt matter how much you hate us, ya gotta be impressed by him working thru these sanctions. People outside the rivalries see it, not just us. That is why Tenn, UCLA, Wisconsin, Penn State all made phone calls to AG.

Bill O'Brien has done more with a much worse situation in his first season than AG has done with Miami in his 2 years. What has Golden had to deal with about these sanctions outside of telling kids they aren't a big deal? And the Miami die-hards like Duke Johnson and Deion Bush will commit regardless of looming sanctions because they were always going to be a Cane. Sanctions didn't matter to them.

I can understand why you are laughing at his barely above .500 record. But I think it's the vision and leadership qualities Golden has that makes him valuable. Leadership without vision won't take you very far. AG said it last year after pulling in a good recruiting class. Everybody better get their licks in while the sanctions are over our head!!

It's called love for the game. And being a good sport about it. Just cus we're fans of other teams doesn't mean we have to play the role of the bad guy. FYI we don't pay access to your FSU site, it's free to comment on any board. The difference is VIP we don't see yours. Unless you got that troll in you. Lol

BS....You have no clue what you are talking about. O'Brien took over a senior laden team with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove because they got pounded by the NCAA in a case that should not have been against the players. Golden took over a program with 1 CB. Blindsided by NCAA crap that has lingered for 2 years, playing top 10 schedule in the country both years and has still managaed top ten recruiting class. Would have been a different season if Lamar Miller, Tommy Streeter, Brandon Washington, Olivier Vernon, Marcus Forston would have all returned like they should have. You should not speak on anything, since you have no clue about football.

Shit in one hand wish in the other cause starting this year you will be are little sisters again. Or did you think 6 assistants leaving was a good sign of a head coach?

Going 12-2 is a pretty good sign. When is golden going to start winning games with this awesome vision of his?

    coachTnole

  • What Golden did at Temple is SO oversold. Temple had the most resources and best talent base in the MAC and he never won it outright.

Come on Brannen stop trying to troll, each coach got promotions. No one jumped shipped cause of Jimbo. And to compare Al to Saban right now is a stretch and you know it. He resides in one of the most populated football areas, and being he coaches at Miami he will recruit well there based solely on that. Saban dips into states to take top prospects, has Golden done that.

Easy on the 2 & 3* guys now. U guys just "STOLE" our 2* guy from us in Jeremy Kerr, congrats by the way. And if U add up your "2 & 3* commits" so far as to date(10 I think), U guys have more of those than U do 4*(9). Personally I think the "* crap" is blown out of proportion. And the comment of AG 2 & 3* from Temple, Muhammad Wilkerson(1st round) draft pick, Bernard Pierce(3rd round i think it was) PLAYING in the SB next week. Not just on the team, but PLAYING. They seem to be doing pretty well. Can U prove that the 4*s listed above that U stated went to UM ONLY because UM, & not because AG or the recruiting staff? I can recall that TH, TM, DB, RK stating numerous times about the staff. Again, not a debate but a ?, so can U prove your statement to be true. Oh, & FWIW, Beau Sandland(Cal.) Kevin Olsen/Alquadin Muhammad(N.J.), Standish Dobard(La.) all 4*s this recruiting class outside Fl. Alex Gall(Oh.), Devante Bond(Cal.), Hunter Knighton(N.J.), UK(Ks.)(sorry can't spell UKs name, he's from Nigeria) all 3*s this recruiting class outside Fl. IMO our staff seems to be doing ok outside the state of FL., best of luck this year & in the next week 1/2.

  • What sanctions ? Golden is a decent coach but what the hell has he done? And at last check miamis not gotten any sanctions yet so that's a cruch...Jimbo took over a 7-6 train wreck won 10, 9, 12 games first 3 years....golden lol really?

    Dunole

  • If Al Golden was the next Nick Saban he would have left the dumpster fire that they call Duh U. Nick Saban always knew when to hold em and when to fold em. Al Golden is a decent coach. He has done well recruiting in Miami area because well after Randy Shannon there was no where to go but up. It's a lot easier to look good when the person before you was terrible. Funny thing is it has not reflected in the actual W-L column so to compare him to Saban is absurd.

    Navarre Nole

  • So far all golden has proven is that he is turner gill. Remember when everybody wanted him because he did really good at a small school. That's all Miami can hang their hats on, his "success" at temple.

  • Great article, and of course if he does become Urb or Nick, being a Hurricane fan that would be awesome. But you can't compare him yet to any coaches who've won multiple titles. Jimbo has even done more winning the ACC and playing in a BCS Bowl. All I'm looking for in him is to keep improving this team, and having the great Miami vs FSU games like in the past. Then the Championships for both teams can actually come. Till then let us cool on the talk, and hopefully bring back that football rivalry of the eighties and nineties back.
