If Watson does end up in the first round

  • He made the right decision...Mel Kiper has him, Werner and Rhoads all as first round picks. It would be shocking to me if Watson ended up as a first rounder, but being that Kiper has him as a first that tells me that he won't drop too far past that..

  • Hmm, where does he have him going?

  • And he can still impress at the combine. Dude is a physical freak. 6-6 320 ex basketball player and boxer who picked up football really damn quickly.

  • He would have to blow up at the combine, which is very possible. With some projecting an OT as the overall number one pick, it may be the position that becomes even higher in demand than usual.

There are a lot of young and elite QB's in the league currently-and protecting the investment will be a priority.

Professional Football is not much of a sport if they are willing to give someone millions of dollars based on less than 20 total games played of football. The whole NFL draft has been a total mystery to me when they are willing to pay unproven athletes more than proven professionals. Hope he does go in the 1st round, get his multi-million dollar contract and play long enough to get into the retirement system. But is just so illogical to me.

  • Dude is a freak and this is being recognized. NFL has always valued projection over production. This shouldnt shock anyone.

  • What do you think they will say when he runs a 4.7. I know it does really matter but that's gonna be funny to see him do that

  • People over-romanticize the first round. If he goes late 2nd or early 3rd he made the right decision if indeed his family is hurting for money. Getting drafted in the first three rounds is a MAJOR accomplishment.

  • Hopefully this bodes well for him for being an upper round pick. As to why an ot is #1, blindside ot's are at a premium. also, while the NFL does project, comparing projections at QB vs. all other positions is apples and oranges.

  • Watson obviously forgot everything he learned at FSU and improved greatly in the last two and a half weeks. lol

    canolee

  • not much to forget in just 4 months.

hopefully Kiper is within 2 rounds of being correct.

a first round pick on a non blind side ot that, quite frankly, may have to be placed on a practice squad next year while he is learing the position is a very high draft pick even if you expect him to be very good ol someday.

If you are looking at the blindside then it is year 3 before you can realistically expect signfificant contribution from him.

As to his physical size, he is also much closer to a finished product then some 21 year old coming out. i think he is 24 or 25 right now.

Again, I hope Kiper is right. a 1st round pick with this amount of development left for an ol seems high.

Don't start any backpedal now, champ. You said no one would draft this guy in the first 3 rounds and he would be lucky to be drafted in later rounds. Don't make me dig up your quote.

EDIT: Ah, nevermind. Here it is: TNOLE27 said: "good luck to him. Will he have taken care of his family if he goes in the 7th round?"
