If Miami gets, say, 30 over three

  • Muzii said...

Most of us don't hate FSU - you are our rival so we are always competing with you - but it's not really hate. The fact is we respect FSU, because you could have cancelled the series when you went to the ACC but you didn't. There is no respect for UF. They are a bunch of cowards hiding behind the SEC brand. They would cancel the series with you guys if it wasn't written into the constitution.

And I believe you are right the way the NCAA looks at boosters. But technically, if I give $10 to UM I think that makes me a booster too. Uncle Luke never gave any money to the school so he wasn't a booster. But boosters at Miami are not like boosters at the older more established schools. Most of them probably never even went to Miami. They are just rich people that moved into the community and have charitable intentions.

    Gotcha.

You're listing 1 guy that was connected to the scandal, who may or may not have had (who really knows) good intentions. I will say that there was an article on hear a few months ago about Devonta Freeman and it did seem as though, and Freeman said as much, that Campbell had a real connection and actually cared for him . It's incredibly naïve however, to assume without any real knowledge, that these folks,, aside from perhaps Campbell, were just doing this out of the kindness of their own hearts. It doesn't matter at this point. Hopefully the NCAA will get their shit together (lol) and close the book on this one way or another. I'm just tired of reading/discussing it. I'm sure you guys are as well.

I have a feeling your entire knowledge of the Hurricane program comes from the 30 for 30 episode. There has NEVER been any claim of $100 handshakes. Actually, money didn't change hands until AFTER they were already here. On top of that, the school was never involved. Luke was never a part of the school. He was a part of the community, and well known by the players. Now maybe the kids stayed here because they knew that old Uncle Luke was taking care of them, but that totally disregards the fact that Miami was the most dominating force in football (much like Alabama is now). And for the record, Miami has never been accused of any violations from those events. The Pell Grant scandal was completely unrelated and was actually a federal offense by a crooked employee.

As for the 2 tds, let's see what happens next year. Thanks for the exchange. You guys have been pretty classy in your remarks. I could never have this conversation with those hicks from central Fla.

Are you kidding me? 57 players were implemented in the Pell grant scandal, you guys lost 31 scholarships and received a one year bowl ban!!!

  • I hope they get hammered.
I want to take WHOEVER we want out of south Florida for the next 10 years.

I want their fans to dine on humble pie.

How naive, to think two bowl bans will wipe away 8 years of hookers, boat parties, cash hand-outs, hotel rooms, and everything else.. Lol.

Let's see the NCAA lower the BOOM here :)

It's so funny to read all of you FSU fans Hope, wish and pray that The U gets "Hammered". Your setting yourself up to get a big let down, come summer. And I can't wait to come to your boards to read when your all crying when our sanctions come down. Your Hate for your rivals clouds your mind to the point that you would cling to and believe every allegation from a convicted Liar! Lmao he lied for a living, and you dumbasses believe and follow this yahoo article like its the Bible! Keep on wishing

    Define all?

Maybe you mean most or some but not all correct?

FYI the NCAA could care less if he is a convicted liar.

Meh, no let down from me. Couldn't care less what happens to your program. Honestly no one cares about teams that haven't had a double digit winning season in 9 years.

Don't be so liberal of the word "rival'. Its all about the now and the Golden Era is 13-11. At FSU we don't consider mediocre programs rivals

The NCAA hammer is just icing on the cake at this point. Miami's program is a dumpster fire already. Not trying to disrespect you guys, but you're are a private school that has an administration that seems to be pushing football further and further on the back burner. You guys are already heading towards failure internally. Not to mention FSU and UF both apparently heading towards national prominence and the potential for the NCAA hammer on you guys.

And what will be your position if you do get "Hammered"? Let me be the 1st to extend an invitation inviting you back to the board in the event that the program formerly known as "The U", gets "Hammered" by the NCAA.

So what you're saying is, you couldn't form an intelligent response, even if posed with one....
    pretty typical of Miami fans....

Your best response to my post was that WE'RE IN FOR A SURPRISE? hahah. Okay. Most of us here aren't sure what to think of the punishment, as the NCAA is anything but consistant, but most people want your fanbase and school to get it good, to put you in your place.

When kids are being offered hookers, free hotel rooms, trips to strip joints, alcohol, free yacht parties, etc., you think two bowl bans, in consecutive disappointing seasons, while still collecting your share of the bowl payouts, is going to somehow save you?

    Get real.

Please, when this whole thing is finished, come back here.

Again with this lumping us all in the same group. Shall I group you into that all Cane groups. I would tend to believe you don't share all views with all Canes. If not then try not to group all Noles. BTW just like we have no clue what will happen to UM neither do you so don't try to act as if you know what will happen.

Cool. So since you seem so confident that ya'll are gonna skate, I propose that should the NCAA drop the "Hammer" in the form of USC type sanctions, you must make a thread on our board, and in that thread you must post why it sucks to be a um fan everyday for 3 months. Since I have no idea what the NCAA is going to do I of course will wager nothing on that. But, should the NCAA not drop the "Hammer" I will give you a chance to win a punishment of your choosing should you boys beat us next year. If we win you risk nothing. Deal?

Just sent you a pm just to make sure you saw the wager.

Sure. But not even close to the talent UF and FSU will field. I'm speaking more long term though. If the university isn't committed to financing an elite football program, the program will collapse in to irrelevance. Also keep in mind we're talking about a program that has no stadium to call its own, crap facilities, an awful fan base, and hasn't been nationally relevant in a long time.

No those guys wouldn't start at Fsu (not yet at least) but that's not to say they aren't good. Realistically Eddie Johnson would be the only one to start right now..

This makes some sense. But unc created an entire degree program for at risk basketball and football players. They got hit a little harder than FSU and we self reported and acted about as contrite as a school can.

No matter how you look at it the unc sanctions were a joke.

OSU I can understand a bit more since all they actually uncovered was the tattoo stuff and the cover up by Tressel, though I'm sure there was a bunch more to find if they really tried. But that's the thing the ncaa doesn't really try very hard unless there's some sort of personal grudge by one or more of the people with power, which is why I believe FSU (mascot thing) and usc (no idea) got penalized harsher than they should have.

UNC didn't CREATE a degree program. It already existed. But the guy that took it over, and other administrators that didn't deserve their jobs let standards go to crap. Eventually, athletes noticed and swarmed to those classes, or were told.

The difference- Butch turned a fake blind eye. When Roy W. saw funny business, he fired an advisor, and his players generally didn't congregate in bogus classes.

Bogus classes happen everywhere. UNC opened themselves up to a public review by an ex-governor.

UM did nothing close to that as far as playing ball...OSU didn't either.
