Maybe I'm alone here, but I think the NCAA handled Ohio State perfect. It was tattoos after all, and the coach that lied was stripped of his wins, fired and basically prohibited from coaching for 5 years. The players all got suspended and the university got a bowl ban and loss of ships.
Auburn didn't "skate", they just haven't been caught yet.
PSU got pile driven under the turf.
Tennessee got more than they deserve from Kiffin being Kiffin.
UNC is the only one that has skated, and man did they skate. IMO what happened at UNC is just as bad if not worse then what happened at Miami. The "good ole' boy network" must really be churning on that one.

Crozea55,
Dude you are telling the Truth about the NCAA, they are not consistent at all, I too have watched how they have handled USC, OSU and UNC and still have to give Miami and Oregon verdicts.
I know a lot of Noles want us to suffer, But my question to a lot of guys is this, Do you really think this Little man(Rat) who has taken peoples life savings can be trusted, I mean really I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw a 100lb weight.
I like many Miami fans will be glad when this is over, we have taken 3 bowl bans, Yeah we will lose some Schollies but I can't see us getting what they gave USC and Penn State and nobody should suffer the way Penn State has, I mean Punish the people who took a blind eye too that Mess but you tell me that the SEC boosters are not paying kids too go to their schools, Nobody in the ACC has those type pockets and I mean Nobody.

Three post season games - not three bowl games. And you should feel lucky, because the way your QB was playing at the end of the season, we could very well have beaten you guys.
As for proof, I have lots of receipts for restaurants. If I write EJ Manuel's name on my credit card statement, is that proof that I took him out to dinner? Oh yeah, and I saw him out the other night and asked him to take a picture with me. Conclusion - I paid for dinner because I have a picture with him and a credit card receipt.
Of course you want us to stink. He kicked your a$$e$ in just about every year that mattered. When both teams are good, we have your number. But you should keep hoping we suck - that's what weakminded people want (by the way, I don't think the school or the players want us to be bad - they love the competition and are not afraid to play us every year - unlike the stinkin' Gators).

All games are important, if you don't think so try losing one and see how people act.-B.Bowden

First, you guys weren't beating us. I don't care how bad EJ was, you guys don't/didn't have the depth to hang.
Secondly, Come on man. You guys have boosters that blurred the lines and you got caught. This happens at every single school. The difference is, your boosters are flashy and stupid. You're kidding yourself if you don't think the punishment from the NCAA is going to be warranted.
Thirdly, nobody wants you to suck because we're worried about um and the 80's making a comeback. Most want you to suck 'cause you're our rival, though admittedly, if we have to stay in the ACC I wouldn't mind you fielding a competitive team to help with our SOS.

You are absolutely right. Our boosters are complete idiots. If Shapiro tried that in Alabama, he would no longer exist. In Miami, the hip-hop goes with the territory. And I think you would be hard pressed to find a successful football program that didn't "take care" of their kids. Miami wasn't good because of Uncle Luke, they were good because of Howard and Jimmy. And while you are throwing stones, just consider that FSU was made up of the same kids that Miami was made up of, and I am sure the "extracurriclar" activities were just as similar. The difference between Miami and FSU in the 80s was about 1 point, and that is it.

The reason why USC got nailed is because they didn't play ball. The NCAA doesn't really want to hurt programs any more than they have to in order to keep the non-cheating (or, in some cases, the not-yet-caught) schools happy that someone isn't getting away with horrible things. What gets a school like USC in real trouble is when they refuse to act like they're sorry and when they try to stonewall - or when they, like SMU, just systematically ignore the NCAA's punishments (by the way, for anyone that might make the comparison, Miami's case is not nearly as bad as SMU - not even in the same ballpark). The NCAA believed that USC had committed serious violations but USC and its athletic director got arrogant and acted like they could just wait it out and pretend like it was no big deal. The result is they got hammered. It was a reminder to schools that as long as they act really, really sorry, include some seemingly meaningful penalties in the proposed punishment, and maybe fire a person or two as a scapegoat, then everyone is satisfied that the public facade of clean, well-regulated college athletics is being properly maintained. Ohio State and UNC played the game. We'll see how well Miami has played it.

Of course every school does it (pays players). That was actually the gist of the second point in my original post. But you wouldn't have been "miami" with out some $100 hand shakes. You would have been "good" had you just paid for players. You would have been "good" had you just had good coaching. You guys were great in the 80's because you paid and had great coaching.
The difference between us and you in the 80's may have been 1 point, but today it's most definitely a 2 TD advantage. Like I said, if we have to stay in the ACC that's bad news for both of us. Hopefully we can get out so I can enjoy the fire from afar. -

I have a feeling your entire knowledge of the Hurricane program comes from the 30 for 30 episode. There has NEVER been any claim of $100 handshakes. Actually, money didn't change hands until AFTER they were already here. On top of that, the school was never involved. Luke was never a part of the school. He was a part of the community, and well known by the players. Now maybe the kids stayed here because they knew that old Uncle Luke was taking care of them, but that totally disregards the fact that Miami was the most dominating force in football (much like Alabama is now). And for the record, Miami has never been accused of any violations from those events. The Pell Grant scandal was completely unrelated and was actually a federal offense by a crooked employee.
As for the 2 tds, let's see what happens next year. Thanks for the exchange. You guys have been pretty classy in your remarks. I could never have this conversation with those hicks from central Fla.
