I think it's time to give Jermaine Thomas a chance

  • What would we have to lose? It couldn't be any worse. Jones, Freeman, and Thompson have been ineffective running the ball. Not to mention Freeman looked AWFUL in pass protection (which I expect from a true freshman), and Thompson didn't look much better in that department.

I assume Thomas has been outplayed in practice, and that is why he's 4th on the depth chart. But in games he has been a good player for us. Now by no means am I saying that Thomas has played lights out in games, but he's been more than adequate in his career, which is more than we're getting now.

    Example...

I played high school baseball with a guy that would hit 10 homeruns a day in practice, hit the ball to all fields, and was never fooled by pitches in practices, scrimmages, etc. Well when it counted, he was terrible. He hit around .220 and had I think 2 homeruns his senior year.

We had another guy that would maybe hit a homerun every 2 or 3 practices, and would look bad at times during scrimmages. But when it counted he delivered and delivered big. He ended the season around the .450 mark and hit 10 HR and had over 50 RBI in about 30 games. He was named player of the year by our local newspaper for all players in our region, which covered about 20-25 high schools.

My point is, I believe that some people are just gamers. And I believe that when/if Thomas is given a fair shot, he will deliver.

  • I agree...JT makes something out of nothing. He should be in the game...I dont understand it.

  • We could have him put on 10 lbs and put him at center. He's almost big enough.

  • Problem is the OL not the running backs. I really doesn't matter at this point who is back there.

  • When has Freeman been ineffective ? He has been the most consistent in my opinion, and the only one who can actually hit the hole with agression, aside from CT who doesn't belong in that type of role to begin with.

  • It's the offensive line not the running backs. How could anybody watch the game and think our running backs had anywhere to run. OU was in our backfield as soon as the ball was snapped. Jermaine would have made no difference at all.

Freeman had 2 good runs against ULM, and has done little since. He's a liability in pass pro at this point also.

Dont get me wrong, I think Freeman has a very bright future, but I don't think he's our best option at this time.

  • The run game play calling has been horse crap and it's on Jimbo. Chris Thompson is a bonafide stud, we need to get him working and running.....I don't know, UP FIELD......before we start going down the depth chart. Jermaine is a nice backup to CT.
