I miss this dude in Garnet and Gold..

  • He was filthy! My buddy(a WR from UConn) was in camp with his in Cincy and he said he couldn't believe how slippery he was.

    I think he was a little undersized for the league, since he didn't have freakish Desean Jackson speed.

    Still is the reason I wear #9 playing DE in touch league's the last decade. As well as a #9 CaNOLEE Garnet FSU Jersey.

    The catch vs Va Tech was amazing. Add to it the crowd chanting his name as they came out of the commercial timeout "Peter Warrick...Peter Warrick...Peter Warrick", not knowing that what was about to unfold seconds later. Also, the quotes from after the game where Weinke supposedly turned to Warrick during the playcall on the sideline and said, "Let's end this!"

    I get still get tears thinking about that moment. Do y'all remember how he came of the tunnel for VT game? We need that attitude back in a big way.

  • I seem to remember a 70-80 yard bomb he caught vs Virginia just before Weinke got his neck broken in 1998. Anyone remember that play?

    yeah, it was a 79 yard strike from Weinke to Warrick on the second possession of the game, it put FSU up 7-0

    Weinke would get hurt in the 2nd qtr, in what was actually a tight game at the half, FSU led 21-14. Rooster came in as a replacement and helped by a nasty defense (held UVA to under 70 yards in the 2nd half), they led the Noles to a 45-14 win

    cblunt, thanks for the details. What I do remember about that play is how long the bar was in the air, a long rainbow of a throw, and that Weinke was just starting to show us how good he was going to be before the dirty hit. Wish there was a video of that throw. People seem to forget how serious Wink's injury was and how far he came back from it just a year later. But this thread is about PW...
