Pben I know you're a legend and I don't want to challenge you but you know it's hard when a large % of your best players are 1st or second year players it'shard to overcome adversity. I do believe we would have done better if EJ and the oline wasn't injured. I also believe that if we had fair refs we probably would've won the Wake game maybe Clemson too. If we were 10-1 going into the Virginia game no way we would have lost that even with the refs.

So I give sort of a by on the season after I saw some very good adjustments for the ND game. I do agree with you that we need to start winning. That said I am very concerned that there are unstable Waco posters/Moles out there that start bashing everything and really start rumors that coaches are going to get fired. you are obviously not one of them. Hell Jeff Cameron had on the radio website headlines the season was a failure after the Wake game.

That was a little melodramatic that does us no good. Then he starts talking about how Jimbo has to win this or that or he's going to get fired. It may help with his radio show ratings but it doesn't help with recruiting, demoralizes the fanbase and team. I know of course if Jimbo doesn't win he's not going to last but that is the same with essentially every coach in america they might just have longer or shorter windows. If Les miles starts losing 4-5 games every year at LSU then he is going to get fired sooner or later.

It hurts but does help. The FSU president, BOT etc. will make their decision with very little input from message boards posters. Most of us are not competent ( myself included) and not privy to everything that's going on to judge the efficacy of a college football coach. I know you are much more knowledgeable then me and most of us I just hope you don't lead the crazies into overreacting every time we don't meet their expectations. That drove me away from the other message board.

BTW I have always loved your posts and found them very informative so please don't take this the wrong way I love hearing your opinion. ps it is also killing me our Oline could be this much of a disaster

I am hardly a legend, but thanks anyway....I drink cosmos with Dowlar.

Injuries are part of the game, and the interesting thing to me, it seemed Clint Trickett was better prepared for a superior team in Clemson than he was for WF. I said before the season i see us being 2-2 coming out of Sept then running the table...we SHOULD of run the table, the last 4-5minutes of the UVA game were just absurd, and the how and why we lost to WF is an unexplained mystery.

So my opinion of Jimbo is the same I had of BB, great recruiter, great guy, average gameday coach.

So that's why you stood us up.

UVa is totally on Jimbo. I agree with those who have said Wake was more about the injuries, and yes, a Jimbo mistake in being conservative holding EJ back. So sure, he made mistakes, but not enough to make him a "crappy coach." I'm not disagreeing with you that we have to do better on the field. Jimbo won't disagree with you on that either.

And I'm glad someone mentioned Ethan. My daughter had surgery last year, and I had a bad month at work because of it. We had another family medical situation a few months later, and I had a bad month at work because of it. Neither of those were nearly "ethan level" situations. Yeah, I had to answer for my productivity, but it doesn't mean the situations didn't play a role. Most of us will never know whether the newness of Ethan's illness carried into the season. I tend to think that, if it did, it has now become part of their life and while still a big deal, something that they are living with rather than reacting to. Obviously, total speculation.

  • I think Jimbo's future is riding on EJ this year. The OL will be serviceable and nothing more(some good games some bad) , but it will be on EJ to get us the points we need when the OL isnt clicking.

  • Fisher & Tricketts players have the most to prove out of anyone on this staff in terms of FSU offensive production.. Offensive line needs to produce, period. EJ needs to show that he has a handle on the mental game and that he can run the passing game consistently. He can't continue to be a guy who looks amazing on one deep ball, but then forces the ball late over the middle on the next play and passes up a sure fire completion to a running back whose getting a first down if throw isn't into the ground or over his head. Fisher as a coach needs to not ever emotionally melt down in front of his players on the sideline. Ride the officials, but get over it don't get so mad in the 1st quarter that you're mentally out of it the rest of the game. If he needs to relinquish some responsibility to be a better coach and QB coach then he should trust Coley and do it. I also think as a QB coach Fisher needs to learn how to teach his guys to relax and play their game. Right now his style is the opposite: he nags them constantly and scrutinizes every decision during the game.

Can I ask why you expect the OL to be only servicable? Also, how do you expect any kind of exceptional play by the skill position guys that play behind that OL

  • Pardon my candor, but it is quite simple for Jimbo and these players: Put up or shut up.

Either we take care of our business like men and dominate this conference, or we keep making excuses. Injuries, 'young team', refs, whatever..........it's either put up or shut up.

....you either can coach them up or you can't, its pretty simple.

Personally he needs to get a OC...and manage his program.

    This.

these top ranked classes are nice and all, but the time is here, in 2012 the goals should be no less than:

ACC Championship and BCS bowl appearance.

You don't think those were the GOALS this year?

Are you suggesting that is one or both of those goals aren't met we should start looking elsewhere for a coach?

Wrong. Look at this year. We lost to Clemson and if we had taken care of business against CRAP ACC teams we would have been in the ACCCG. Beating Clemson would be a great start, but winning games you should is the 1st step we must take.

  • A process oriented coach who has been in charge of the offense since 2007 should not be falling victim to injury destroying the unit. That is why you recruit more than 3 or 4 Offensive linemen over 2 classes. So what we see there is a faulty process that lead to a bad result. That's the catch about being process oriented: you can say the right things all you want but you better have an iron glove over the nutsack of said process, making sure things you can control aren't hurting you. That's why we're in year two of hoping JUCOs can come in and save the day.

I completely agree. The first step is beating the WF, UVAs, etc. But I think most fans expect 2 forward steps next year:

    1. Beating crap teams
    2. winning the ACC.

Missing out on #2 will be hard to stomach, but not accomplishing #1 will end Fisher's tenure and set the program on a course of mediocrity for years. I'm refusing to acknowledge it as a possibility.
