How would this team have done in the big 12 or SEC?

  • no shot: I am curious as to everyone's take on this:

We probably won't be in the ACC 3-4 years from now.

My take is that this team would have been 8-4 in the big 12 and maybe the same in the SEc. I think the chances for more losses would have been higher in the big 12 because of the offenses out there. I undersatand there is an argument that we would have focused much better with better competition. I also concede with better in season competition we may have beaten UF.

I know some of you are honestly perplexed by those of us who are not satisfied with 12-2 this year.

I think a lot of us are using different measuring sticks for this team. Some look at it from the perpsective of how many games did we win & did we win our conference. Others of us think the ACC is so poor of a conference that it is not an adequate measuring stick and compare FSU to teams in power conferences.

  • Nobody can answer that question accurately because they don't know...

    haitian_nole

  • Your measuring stick went out the window when Clemson beat LSU and GT beat USC. Enough ACC sucks so bad crap. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day, save for a few exceptions.

  • Well, for one, I don't think our offense would be frustrating to watch....We could trip into the endzone for touchdown drives in that league.

  • And Vandy beat NC ST are you asserting that 2 bowl wins made the ACC as good as the SEC and PAC 12?

    TNOLE27

  • I do not think anyone could answer this, because a lot of it would depend on schedule. Looking at Bama's schedule this year I could see us losing to A&M and probably LSU. However if we had ended up with UF's schedule (substituting UF for us at the end of the year), I could see us with three losses (LSU, UGA, and UF), possibly four with USC ( I don't think that we would lose to A&M, because they were not as strong a team at the beginning of the season).

Why could we not trip into the end zone last night? I think our slow starts would cost us games in the big 12 but would not be as big a problem in the SEC.

Besides Oregon and Stanford, who else was great in the PAC 12?

How many teams in the PAC 12 are better than NC St. I would say 8-9.

are you alleging that the PAC 12 and the ACC are equals?

I allege that without question. Colorado, Wash State, Cal, Wash, are atrocious. USC and UCLA suck, most are meh, and you have Oregon, and Stanford that are good. Next.

    DinTexas

  • How many teams in ACC are better than Colorado? What the hell is wrong with you?

    DinTexas

  • Nc state could compete with the rest of those teams. The rest were garbage...

Please stop. Transitive football properties is ludicrous. The whole idea is unknowable and isn't presented for fun dialogue. It's clearly just a vehicle for you to trot out your same tired nonsense about this team.

We get it: you don't like FSU's coaches or its players. Cool. Move on.

  • This has to be one of the worst thread I have ever read. OP should be embarrassed to even call himself a FSU fan.

We only punted twice on our first drive of the game this year. We gained 34 yards and punted against NC State, and went 3 and out against Wake.

Does not fit my agenda. Therefore: ignore.

  • It would be interesting to see. I think part of the reason we play soft is that being in the ACC allows us to play soft.

  • Az st Az, Washington, Ore st, UCLA, USc are all better than everyone but clemson in the ACC. so that is 8 teams better than the ACc #3 team but the ACc is equal. yeah, that makes sense. 2 of the 8 are better than anyone in our conference.

as to ignore, why does anyone think we would have scored more points in the big `12 thanwe did in the ACC? we could not fall into the end zone in the ACC. The big 12 defenses look worse because their offenses are so much better than everyone else. Are you going to ignore this because it does not fit your agenda of what? proving the ACC is the best conference in america?

Didn't GA TECH just roll USC? You don't think Miami/Virginia Tech/North Carolina can beat any of these teams?? Please, if anyone around here has an agenda it's you.... Everyone sees it.....

  • First who do we play and where. I think we could beat any sec team at home as we played very well at home, but not saying we would win every home game. then on the road only Kent and Miss would be 100 % wins even Tenn on the road would be a shot out. Bama LSU and FLA beat us hands down. Ga tough and a shot out every one else i think we would beat but would not bet $1 on it cause we just walked through raod games like zombies. I say we would win 8-9 games.

  • I think an interesting question is, how would teams of the lost decade have done in the SEC or Big 12?

While I don't think that we are as far along as a program as many would have hoped, the improvement is undeniable.
