How many K's does Gonzo have this year?

  • The human windmill, the strikeout machine. Is it possible to DH for him and just let the pitchers hit, they can't be any worse than him. I know he has a few clutch hits and plays good defense, but he needs to be moved down in the order. The six spot needs to be able to produce or at least record productive outs, and striking out as much as he does is frustrating, he is a rally killer. The bottom half of our order is going to kill us as we face better competition down the road.

  • I would hit him 8th, but there really isn't another player on this team capable of playing in the 6 spot more effectively right now. I was hoping that one of our freshman would step up (Nogowski/Brizuela), but they are struggling to be consistent too.

  • I would move sherman down as well. Id hit
    1. Travis
    2. Sherman/mcgee
    3. Ramsey
    4. Boyd
    5. Brizuela( been hitting much better lately)
    6. Sherman/mcgee
    7. Nogo
    8. Delph
    9. Gonzo

or start brizuela at short or second with travis at short. With delph in lwft miller in right.

  • I wouldn't put Gonzo at 9th. He strikes out too much. I would rather have someone with a higher OBP hitting ninth since it turns over to the top of the line-up so much. Sherman is prefect for the lead-off spot because of his propensity to get on base. Personally, I would like to see Mcgee move to 2nd because of how often he gets on base (he isn't a 5-hole hitter).

    1) L Sherman
    2) R McGee (.500 OB%)
    3) R Travis (Leads team w/ 15 2B)
    4) L Ramsey
    5) R Boyd
    6) R Nogowski
    7) L Brizuela
    8) R Gonzo
    9) L Miller

  • I saw someone say that he is actually tied for 5th in the country for KO's this year. That is pretty bad...

  • Anybody would be better or as equal to Gonzo right now average wise, but his propensity to strike out is a killer. I would move a lefty into the six spot so at least we don't have 3 righties in a row. Whether that be Brizuela, Delph, Holland or whoever. Whatever happened to Seth Miller, seemed like he was swinging the bat better lately than he dissappeared. Is he in the dog house for something.

Move Mcgee to the 2-hole and we wouldn't have R-R-R.

  • "hey it's not his fault, the whole team sucks"

but seriously, 3 guys on the team that can be counted on at the plate....moving the other 10-12 or however many around isn't gonna change that

    pretty simple, recruit better players

Unfortunately, I have to agree with NTK. Other than Travis, Ramsey, and Boyd, our line-up isn't very good.

  • O'Brien(#136 nationally), Brizuela(#139 nationally), Gonzo(#168 nationally) and Nogowksi(#313 nationally) were top rated recruits. There is more to our issues than simply recruiting better players.
