How close were we to a #1 seed?

  • If we beat Harvard, Princeton, Clemson and BC, are we a #1 seed?

3 of those games were within 5 points.

  • Our chances would have been good. Our strength of schedule and body of work would have been up there with the current #1 seeds if not better.

For the team mentally, I prefer to be a #3 seed. I also think that the adversity we overcame to come back stronger from those games made us the team we are today (the team who could beat Duke and North Carolina in consecutive days for the ACC championship).

I amagine if that had happened we would have had to been picked over unc considering we beat them twice

We are far from a 1 seed. A 1 seed wins those games... We are lucky to be a 3. Not trying to be negative. Everyone knows I love the Noles with all my heart. We are a top 15 team. We got the proper seeding. We can beat any of the 1 seeds though. UK has at least 3 first rounders, UNC has at least 4, Cuse' are loading with top 50 players, Mich St is peaking and has an all time great coach. If we wont those games i still think we'd be a 2 seed.

Which is why I said "If". This isn't the same team that started the season, just like UNC isn't the same team that lost by 33 points to FSU a month ago.

yeah, lots of ifs this year. What if snaer and miller missed the game winners? what if miller was eligible all year? What if shannon didn't get hurt.

    I understand you said "if"

Not trying to argue, but lots of teams could be 1 seeds "if"......

Wasn't it you who said, "1 seed wins those game"?

I don't believe your last statement to be true; at least not relative to our circumstances.

I don't believe that to be the case.

if OSU beat Mich State today they would be a 1.... if duke beat us and beat UNC they might have been. many teams needed much fewer "ifs" to get 1 seeds... "if" austin rivers went to UF and not Duke, UF would be a top 3-5 teams

    THANKS GOD he didnt haha.

    But that is the case...

  • Sure, you're right, but your being overly exaggeratory. Harvard, Princeton, Clemson and BC are games we should have won and we predicted to win, easily. You can't same the something for your other examples.

We would have been a #2 if we won those games. Would have had to throw in a win Vs MichState and reg season ACC champs to be a #1.

I can agree with ya on that. my point still is that 1 seeds don't loss 4 games that should win easy.

I can agree with that too.

  • The flip side of that is that it is easy to say FSU could have lost to UVA and VT since they trailed one game by 9 points with just over a minute left and then other by double digits at the three minute mark.

    fsugeo

  • Very true.

    fsukum

  • The only bad losses we had were Boston College and Clemson. The Ivy League losses weren't bad at all. Even with the two additional ACC wins I don't see us higher than a 2 seed.

Hold on against Uconn and win that would have helped also
