Can't imagine he will win, he's missed a few kicks this year.

  • Stats on the finalists:

    Hopkins - 22/26 FG, long of 56, 56/57 XP

    Santos - 20/20 FG, long of 57, 24/25 XP

    sturgus - 20/24 FG, long of 51, 28/29 XP

I think with setting the scoring record that Hopkins gets the award as long as he doesn't have a bad game on Saturday.

I think what stands out to me is that FSU has attempted 28 more XP than uf.

  • As much as I want Dustin to win, it's incredibly hard to argue with Santos stats. Hopkins holds a card in his pocket by being the NCAA Scoring Leader for Kickers but Santos is 20 of 20 with a long of 57 and only missed one XP.

Hopefully D-Hop takes home some post-season brass but not looking likely for the Groza if it's solely based off this year's accomplishments.

Hopkins has kicked more than double Santos' extra points and missed just as many as Santos has.

  • I coached Santos in high school at St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine and helped get him recruited (it's hard at a small school like St. Joe). Sturgis was at St. Augustine High School at the time and I used to tease Santos that he wasn't as good as Caleb. Truth is I know them both and they are great kids.

With that said, they aren't Seminoles. So I'll be pulling for Hopkins.

  • Good news for Hopkins is he has 2 more games to rack up some more made field goals (currently 2nd in nation in made fg). Santos and Sturgis only have the 1.
