High School OC...

  • Clemson keeps it simple, the O they run is similar to the one we use to run when I was a high school Coach.

    NebNoleNEBx0

  • they have an elite TE and WRs that all have different, good attributes. Their QB can also run. Morris is just doing a good job keeping defenses guessing. The reason we lost and played awful on defense was 3rd down and 3 man fronts. We couldnt generate a pass rush and decided to keep the status quo. Almost reminded me of Budd Thacker diving at the knees of GT OL

  • Let's hire your HS coach then. Jimbo obviously can't cut it at the BCS level.

  • Whatever. Clemson can install an offense in just a few months that is running through teams, yet Jimbo's offense is so complicated that you have to be a Junior to play in it, yet can't rip good teams. Even at LSU, with Russell at qb, his offenses were avg in big games. He out thinks himself. Make it simple. Clemson knows they have great athletes. Keep it simple and let the athleticism take over.

Going to have to agree with this.

Yeah, Jimbo's offenses have never shown up in big games.

    The Unconquered

  • I would seriously question a high school coaching staff that opts for that offense unless you have a ridiculously talented roster.

It doesn't take that much to win at that level, and the team that is the most consistent at four or five plays and gets their best player the ball the most usually wins.

I'm sorry but this has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen posted.

    I'll start with this:

So, with Rashad Greene, Nick O'Leary, Devonta Freeman, Clint Trickett, Christian Green all being freshmen...

And with Kenny Shaw, Greg Dent, Scooter Haggins, all being sophomores...

(and this is off the top of my head)

Somehow you've come to the conclusion that you need to be a Junior to play in Jimbo's offense?

Oh, wait, you're right it's probably just an injury thing. That's why last year...

Sophomores : Chris Thompson, Lonnie Pryor, Rodney Smith, Willie Haulstead, were all key pieces in the offense, right?

No, it's cool, go on making up stories to show how awful we are...yah we only use Juniors and Seniors in this offense...Jimbo's such an idiot.

Dude you should coach. You obviously know how to coach an offense better than Jimbo.

  • What were our big games last year?

    Miami
    Florida
    Oklahoma
    Virginia Tech (starting backup QB)
South Carolina (Ponder injured mid game)

    What did we score?

    40+
    30+
    17
    30+
26 (with a Ponder concussion missed throw that cost us another TD, shoulda been 33)

Man, that Jimbo offense is so average in big games...

  • Sorry, im a bit edgy today.

Our fans tend to forget than Jimbo took this offense from absolutely awful to pretty darn good when he got here. For whatever reason, our fans tend to only remember the bad games.

In reality, Outside of Oklahoma, our offense has been pretty freaking good. You'd be hard pressed to find a game we lost because of the offense (again, outside of Oklahoma) over the last 2 seasons.

We scored 24 offensive points on Clemson with our backup freshman QB starting and 3 of our top 4 starting WR's out. We lost that game because our Defense gave up 35, not because of Jimbo's offense.

  • OP has a valid point.

Even last year, in year 4 of Jimbo's offense, with 4-5 NFL players on our O (including a 1st round QB), our offense did not look as explosive as Clemson's this year.

    MCG3934

  • The post is valid. We require a lot from our QB and WR. When we click it's a thing of beauty but it's easy for players to not be on the same page

    WarDogCG58

  • Our offense has been a top twenty offense for the last two years and I'm sure we will end up there by the end of this year. Jimbo is building a team that whens championships not a just trying to be a flash in the pan.

    Miami - sucked
    Florida -sucked
    OU - raped us
    VT - raped us
    USC - Good team.

    You're missing the point...

Was the VT loss because Jimbo's offense sucked?

That was a huge part of it... So was our Defense. We couldn't convert 3rd downs and they were converting them all.. I would place the blame majorly on our D in that game but our offense was also less than stellar.

Didn't our offense score over 30 pts? 4 TDs, over 300 yards? With our BACK UP QB?

  • The only year I was REALLY impressed by Jimbos offense was Bowden's final year when our defense was so bad. We looked great that season.

Who also threw two crucial INTs (one a pick 6) and one of those touchdowns was on garbage time... I mean it is what it is.. You were impressed by our O that game, I was extremely frustrated watching that game because we couldn't convert crucial 3rd downs.. I'm not trying to sway you to my side just stating my opinion.

I hear you. I just think it isnt the offenses fault that they were put in a position where the other team had 44 points on the board. 33 points in a game should be enough to win.

Well we are certainly in agreement there... The D didn't do the O any favors in that game.

Ok, ok. But we have much much better than Top 20 talent. With the type of talent we have had/have on offense, shouldn't we expect more than a top 20 O?
