  • I have stated in the past that I would murder a panda if we left the ACC for the Big 12.

The only conference worth leaving for (and FSU belongs in) is the SEC.

  • To add, heads should roll within the FSU administration if the SEC goes to 16 and FSU doesn't try to get an invite.

  • Would love to see some of the Big 12 games, but it wouldn't be pretty. We haven't won the ACC in years, let's not talk about winning the Big 12 just yet.

    EnterTheOcho

  • Traveling to those games would blow. FSU complains about having enough money to fund their programs. Why would you join a conference with teams far as heck away? They won't travel well to FSU either.

We need to stay in the ACC or join the SEC. That is it.

If FSU is in fact having "dialogue," I hope it is to position themselves with some sort of leverage for an invite from the SEC.

  • I am sure there is no accuracy to this story but I would sell my soul to the devil if FSU could leave the ACC and join the SEC or Big 12. I absolutely loathe the ACC and their admin. Complete and total failure.

  • 0.0 percent chance we leave the ACC, much less for the Big 12

    That place is toxic

  • I personally would love to go to the BIG12 we would still play UF, UM, and Clemson every yr and would have games with Texas, Oklahoma, and Ok ST.

UVA? Uh, no thanks. Maybe Louisville. Very good athletic programs they've put together and they actually compete in at least 2 of the 3 big men's sports, not just one (two in a good year) like UVA.

But the Big 12 doesn't really interest me at all. Unless they could guarantee $25-30M/year in tv revenue our FIRST YEAR, I think it's an awful idea. I have ZERO desire to play Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU or Oklahoma State in multiple sports. So, in other words, the conference blows.

This rumor is crap anyways. Don't believe ANYTHING that is started by WVU people.

    Why?

You guys and this "SEC" thing...careful what you wish for...the reason for Pitt and Syracuse coming to the ACC are plain as day.

I told you guys this thing will be settled within 2 yrs, like 6 mos ago, and in the end the ACC will have 16 teams in 4 divisions. The big piece isn't here yet.

So how does that make the ACC on a financial plane near that of the SEC, Big 12, Big 10?

Answer.....it doesn't, but our fans keep ignoring that fact as if it doesn't matter.

There is a HUGE price to pay for being in the poorest conference.

It is hardly poor, and the numbers gap is not that large....and the financial cash cow draw is still out there.

Additionally if FSU would get its shyat together and be a national power again, that would help a lot.

There is now real draw in the conf right now...but that will change, it always does. I remember when the SEC was routinely curbstomped by FSU and everyone else, like the B10 is now.

Oh and the other is easy to figure out as well...quick where is ESPN located? And who do they like to pimp a LOT?

    Patience

ND to the ACC is a perfect fit, they are the only school i can think of, outside the service academies and BYU whose physical address means nothing. 75% of their viewing audience is in the NE, what conference now dominates the NE in football?

Also a few other lil tidbits...look over their schedule count the number of ACC teams up on it (include the two newbies as well), and as ironic as it sounds, Penn State is not doing the B10 any favors, not to mention as they will now certainly diminish in relevance, there will be a huge void to be filled.

Two of the B10's three premier programs are rocked by scandal right now, not exactly making them a good fit for a school like ND, who likes to think its above all that, the issues ACC schools have, are nothing compared to child rape, etc. The ACC will also work in ND's NBC contract, and are probably the only conference that can make that concession.

As for school #16, UCONN from a $$ standpoint makes the most sense, simply because of ESPN. Before anyone downplays that, and on the subject of $$ do not forget the sleeping Giant that is UMD and their UA tie-in (Oregon lite).

That would be dumb to play a big 12 conference schedule and they those teams mentioned in ooc, we definitely would have a couple loss each year

Actually, Pben is spot on in this thread.

With ND, it's more of a when. They do not want to be regionalized by the B1G, and it is laughable that they would ever consider the B12.

Missouri did not want to go to the SEC, but they felt it was their only option, as there is not equal revenue sharing in the B12, and the B1G was not interested in them.

The b12 should just be called the UT conference because they run the place.

That guy is stating the obvious (well if I can figure it out anyone can), the rumors of ND to the ACC have been amping up..and I think the ACC wants to close this thing out sooner than later.

If the BCS, or should I say when the BCS changes its format, that will be the last straw.

Lots of misinformation in this thread.

The SEC doesn't want us, and we don't want them, it's not going to happen. Our administration will NOT solicit an invite from the SEC. It's not like the only relevant teams in college football will be in the SEC for the remainder of time, that's ridic. Syracuse and PItt will help us when we renegotiate as well as Notre Dame and UConn once they're in. ESPN wouldn't have suggested them to Swofford if this wasn't the case. ESPN knows where the advertising dollars are and they know how to get them.

PBen knows what he's talking about, and everything from FSU's end supports this too.

People forget that outside of uf, Alabama a few years and Tennessee in '98, the SEC was complete garbage in the 90's. These things happen in cycles.

My argument has more to regionalism. A conference spread out across te nation is a logistics nightmare.

I want the ACC and SEC because of proximity.

A closer rival means more people in the stands and more money for the city. We are in a conference that has lousy attendance and the Big 12 is top heavy in attendance.

I for one would go to EVERY away game if we were in the SEC. All teams are a day away from Atlanta and have family or know someone in every one of those towns.

I want the experience. I could give a poop about some dude in NYC/Boston/Pittsburgh/OKC/Dallas etc watching our game on TV.

I like the ACC but would only want to leave for the SEC.
