Legio mihi nomen est, quia multi sumu [My name is Legion, for we are many.]
The other idea I had in the thread up top was give Matius a shot at RT, 'IF' the game has slowed down for Krug and consequently, his feet are moving faster.
We would have to see how Matius would fare pass blocking on the edge, but he was at LT for a little while last year. And he'd give us a bear in the running game next to Jackson and a TE that is actually capable of making a block.
People think Krug was the worst OL in the history of the game at any level, but isn't it at least true that he does not get pushed back? At very least, when he engages with a DL, he does not get manhandled, correct?
goog, that is accurate. He is very good at blocking in his immediate gap.
He struggles at things that require rangey movements like pulling/trapping and cut off at the second level. And he gets off balance in pass pro, so is succeptible to athletic 3 tech's capable of double moves and also locks onto his man in pass pro and allows stunts and blitzes in his gap.
So if he worked on his quickness/footspeed(also comes with confidence in his assignments) and stays more disciplined in pass pro, then he could be a good RG.
The question remains, has he made those improvements?
Cam Erving on Menelik Watson
"Even if he messes up he displaces somebody every play. That's what really sticks out about him to me."
I can tell you this after watching the oline today, Watson is nasty. He will be a good oline if he can get his head wrapped around the game. Real mean in the trenches. Very pleased with what I saw.
