Most of these guys that get this award are products of the system. Bama brand will recruit itself, kids arent leaving Bama to come to FSU because of this guy. Goto New Mexico State or Idaho places that are not a big brand and get kids to come to the school when facilities etc. are not up to par.
I'm not quite sure what your point is. FSU has had a couple "recruiters of the year" over the past 12 years or so too. These guys are great at developing relationships, as is Coley and Gran, which is key to recruiting. Not everyone has the personalty to be great recruiters. FSU has every advantage any other program has, and more, in terms of recruiting. These guys won't miss a beat here.
Very strange the way the OP kind of just ends. Bottom line is that these guys are salesmen. Walk into a professional sales office and say that the only thing that makes a difference is the product and listen as the chorus of laughter AT you, not with you crescendos.
Can their awards for ROY be tied to selling the Bama product, yes. Does it unequivocally set them aside as some of the best recruiters in America, yes. These guys can sell. FSU will be plenty of brand equity for them to do MAJOR damage.
I had the same reaction
I love lamp. I love lamp.
Getting a 5 star kid to sign on with a school with a loaded roster and where he knows he'll have to work for a starting job or even PT is harder then it is seems
What? FSU does sell itself and has for years. How do you think they pulled in 3 straight top-3 classes from 2004-2006 all the while going 6-6? Location, facilities, tradition etc. are why FSU recruits well and always will; it recruits itself. Alabama has a more difficult time recruiting than FSU because ofvthe talent base. Some of their classes before Saban arrived with success were not very good.
As to the point of the OP, you don't see Trickett being confused with Coley on the recruiting trail, do you?
