I agree. I think all drugs should be legal. If people want to use they will do it anyway. It fills up our jails with petty offenders and ends up letting murders and rapist walk due to being full. This would take drug dealing off the street and users would not have to be in dangerous situations all the time. Also the state and fed could tax it and bring in more money. A win for everyone.

    i wouldnt go that far.

im not a smoker but i dont think weed should be illegal. they need to just decriminalize it or legalize it and tax it in state run stores. we waste entirely too much money locking up smokers and low level dealers. if people are going to do it, the govt might as well make a couple bucks off it. hell, if we taxed it wed probly pay off the national deficit in about 10 years

we'd be in bad shape (competitively) if we cleansed our athletic program of all the kids that smoke.

As would 99% of all college programs.

Pot--now-- is like underage drinking when most of us (assuming much here) were in college: it is pretty commonplace. Like it or not, that's just the way it is. Nonetheless, he should sit 3 games, at least.

He got taged with a seatbelt violation so I would think it was that.

  • Someone mentioned this might be his 2nd strike, curious about the 1st one......the scooter thing was bogus and a police mistake, so what was the 1st strike that I missed???

  • I don't care if he had pot or not. What people do on their own time is not my concern.

But why drive on a suspended license? And why not just keep your nose clean until your senior season is over? Good grief.

  • Not sure how many strikes this is for Greg, but i assume he will be suspended, probably for 1-3 games.

Some kids just don't get it/don't care enough. Smoking weed happens, unfortunately it's part of the culture now a days and everyone does it(not me), but driving with a suspended license AND having weed on him is the problem.

I'd just suspend him for Murray St and Wake. Don't let him play first game of the year when everyone wants to finally get paid back for all the work in the heat and then make him sit for Wake. But let him play ~25 plays against Savannah St.

  • suspend him for the first to games like any good coach

  • Who cares. Suspend him for the first 2 or 3 games, which we could win with our 2nd team defense.

Hate to break it to you guys, but people in college smoke pot.

Having it on you while driving with a suspended license (something you shouldn't do in the first place), now that's stupid. However, don't chastise G5 for enjoying a little bud - we'd be in bad shape (competitively) if we cleansed our athletic program of all the kids that smoke.

I think the point you're missing is the fact that he is doing this isn't his first "incident"

Per the USA Today article "This isn't the first legal issue for Reid in the last 12 months. He was arrested last fall and charged with resisting arrest and perjury in connection with a case involving a friend that was riding his scooter."

Not only are you bringing negative attention to the Football program but you're also continuing to put red flags on your NFL Draft stock.

Just because a lot of people do it doesn't mean it's ok especially when this is your first infraction.

  • SMH, kids just never learn, I expect him to be suspended for 1 or 2 games. yes he is still in college and kids will be kids but at some point have to realize your future and make some changes

The case you mention was dropped. Not knowing the full legal name of your friend is not a crime in the United States. I guess that doesn't make USA Today's story sensational, though, does it?

Missed early classes. He and Telvin both got suspended one game last year.

It is still stupid, I don't care how many players do it.

Healthwise, it's dumber to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. Legally, you're right but that has nothing to do with what is worse for you.

  • Folks saying suspend him two games are not thinking clearly. It would be a PR black eye to suspend him for two games we will win ~120-10.

It's either one game, 3 games, or like I said a combo of Murray and Wake, or one game with that being Wake.

  • Through a GSP spokesperson, here's what we have. The full arrest report isn't available at this time.

Greggory Lamar Reid, Jr., age 21, from Tallahassee, FL was arrested Tuesday night in Lowndes County by the Georgia State Patrol during a traffic stop at the intersection of Georgia Highway 376 and Georgia Highway 7. A trooper stopped his 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis for window tint and seat belt violations around 8:45 p.m.
During an inventory of the vehicle, a suspected marijuana joint was located in a cup holder.
He was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. Mr. Reid is charged with possession of marijuana (less than an ounce); driving while license is suspended or revoked; and seat belt violation.
