Way back in 1990, Spurrier's first year at Florida we were cleaning up and getting just about everybody. James Roberson was UF's best comittment and had been comitted to them for about three weeks. On signing day he flipped to us and I believe Spurrier fired his recruiting co-ordinator, James Goodman the next day.

1997 was crazy when we landed David Warren on NSD. He apparently called our coaching staff a couple of days before signing day and they were all busy on the phones or whatever and they had him talk to a GA. He was the USA Today Defensive Player of the Year from Texas. He never panned out in college due to some neck injury. Antone Smith was a shocker as was Lorenzo Booker. In 1998, we had been recruiting lights out were just on amazing run especially with LBs in the early early and mid 90s, but we couldn't land them for whatever reason in the late 90s. Will Witherspoon was the #1 prospect in Florida that year and I remember he was a huge target and he signed with UGA, which was a big shocker at the time.

Same for me. That was the first year that I REALLY started following recruiting and I was giddy when he picked FSU cause I thought for sure he was going to ND.
