Florida's New OC

  • Report: White new OC, Rogers QB

Sources told Gator Bait Tuesday night that Florida head coach Will Muschamp is expected to name Brian White as offensive coordinator and Kevin Rogers as quarterbacks coach.

  • awful hires for uf and great hires for us. You would think uf could find the brightest coaches in the country and yet they have to settle for these 2 guys.

White was OC at Wisconsin who then finds himself as a TE coach at uf then RB's coach? That's some career progression. Hopefully he brings his 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense with him.

Rodgers is ok but Qb's aren't beating down the door to play for him. The guys he gets credit for never made it in the pros, and McNabb still has throwing mechanic issues.

  • Half of this board would be decent OC's behind Wisconsin's offensive lines. Florida can afford much, much better. Tells me that Foley and the Bull Gators aren't sold on Muschamp and want to make him earn it.

  • Yall don't have the inside info.

Charlie Weis farted all of his offensive secrets into that cooler and these are just the guys to go sniff em all out. That offense is gonna turn heads next year.

    turn heads? with what players?
half their team has transfered and their top skill position recruits have decommited. they will be lucky to win 6 games next year

    Permanent

Very underwhelming hire. I was hoping they wouldnt hit a homerun and they certainly didnt. Muschamp is a great DC but he is not good at being a HC.

Luckily for UF their AD is very good and will have no problem canning Muschamp in a year or 2

  • WOW... Terrible hires really - Rogers resigned for health reasons, and I know nothing about White...

Curious to see what Hillsborough has to say...

Now we see why even Texas fans didn't want Muschamp as their next HC.

I'm ok with the hires. White brings continuity, something we haven't had in years, and runs the system Will wants ran. Plus, he's an excellent recruiter. Don't know very much on Rogers but it looks like he has solid credentials. Neither hires are "home runs" nor will they wow anybody but he could've done a lot worse. The key to me isn't so much hiring a big name OC (you see where Weis got us) but it's getting depth and talent to execute.

Rogers is supposedly a-ok. And Muschamp hasn't confirmed any of these hires.

Think it's way too soon to be passing judgement on CWM. Yeah, it seems as if he's stumbling outta the blocks but he inherited a wreck and it's only year one. Saban went 6-6 his first year at Bama.

LOL Saban may have gone 6-6 his first year at Bama but he had a NC on his resume and a proven track record to fall back on and sell recruits and fans. Muschamp has nothing. Totally different. Don't know why you guys always bring that up.

Bc it's true but you're right. Urban didn't have any of that and he got off to a rough start then turned around and won a MNC in year two. Muschamp has plenty to sell recruits on though. It shows in our recruiting ranking and it'll show even more in who we close with.

Back to the topic, a lot of people are forgetting that CWM has to win and he has to do it now. Hiring a big name splash means a new system with new philosophies for the third straight year. White will allow the same system to remain in place with the same staff and bring continuity. Allow us to perfect the offense and execute better.

  • Muschamp needed true home run hires to buy himself a few years. All these hires do is put Muschamp directly on the hot seat.

    NoleBrave03

  • Muschamp wasnt going to hire a homerun for this position. He tried that with Donut boy...Now has has a poor record and there is some concern that the team will not improve enough in the next two years to keep his job. There is NO way he was going to put a guy in at OC that could potentially be his replacement.

This was a nice safe hire for Muschamp.

Dooley is very competent and inherited a far worse mess than CWM. Excuse me for not taking your bait.

@swo- 2 or more of Jordan Jenkins, Leonard Williams, Jon Bullard, Darius Hamilton. Agholor, Diggs, Jamal Marcus. One or both of JHC or McCord (could see us missing on both). If Howard makes it to campus the weekend before NSD, he could end up a Gator. Avery Young. Fowler is obviously on the table and worth a mention but I don't think he flips. Maybe WR Gardner. A few more but that's off the top of my head. I'm not a sunshine pumper so I know there's a likely chance I'm wrong about all of these guys. But as of now, I like our chances.

  • Love to see FSU take Williams and possibly move ME Jr inside next to Goldman / Shanks... Or move Fowler to LB...

Or Foley and the Bull Gators didn't want to open up the check book for an elite OC that could potentially prolong Muchamp's tenure...I've heard and read rumblings that the powers that be at UF aren't sold on Muschamp both on and off the field.

  • The are not ready to throw in the towel yet and would never do it at the expense of poor seasons... Muschamp really believes this is the guy to take him where he wants to get too....remains to be seen obviously.
