Florida State Offers Finnin

As soon as Matt Finnin feels like he’s closing in on a college decision, another major program offers the Top100 JUCO OT. Florida State became the latest on Sunday.

It's depth. Just like Glauser was. Turn your brain on and quit perma-bitching.

    It means Watson's leaving.

No shit. And this is FSU moving forward and doing what they can. Erving and Hart. Not bad.

  • Yeah all this does is saying Watson is gone. rather than depend on a true freshman or hart were bringing another JUCO to compete which is good.

  • Could Watson's really be leaving for the NFL?

I know he has done great this year, but hasn't he only been playing football for a year or two?

He also missed 2 games this year, which wouldn't be a big deal, but it is like 20% of his football career.
So how much film could they have on him?

And he grew up in England, so I would think he really wouldn't have had very much exposure to American Football.

Could he really be a high enough draft pick, with such a small amount of experience with the game, and an even smaller amount of film of him playing the game, to justify him coming out?

Will NFL Coaches, and GMs, trust the protection of their QBs (on the football field) to a guy that was a professional boxer just a couple of years ago?

If so, every kid in the country/world should be lining up to play, and learn, under Coach Trickett.

I don't care how much talent you have, if a coach can get you ready for the NFL that fast, he has done an amazing job.

  • Watson is not ready for the NFL. Hell, after the Orange Bowl it is clear he is not ready for elite college Dl's. When a mac dl wins his share of the battles, you are not ready.

So Trickett's coaching may be fine but it hasn't gotten him NFL ready by any stretch of the imagination. I was watching Seattle Washington and the thought popped into my head as to how much he would, quite frankly, embarrass himself against an NFL dl. a 1st or 2nd round OT pick should be read to play in a game like that.

This is not a shot at Trickett. Watson just is not close to being NFL ready.

As to the Juco ol, this guy's offer list is "light". he only real teams that have offered are ou, neb and wvu if you want to call them real.

Honestly, offer list is not very impressive. This could mean we have accepted we are not getting Tunsil or we are not getting Kirkland. This guy has Glauser written all over him.

Oh I know, get ready for the Trickites to tell us this guy is NFL ready now. We may need to accept the fact we may not be a consistent national power until Trickett is gone and we can get someone in here who can get enough quality Jimmies and Joes to come play for him.

I suspect Barron may need to accept the coffers getting a little lighter if it becomes clear that we will not be a consistent national power. with mediocre ol's year in and out we will not be a consistent national power.

We still have a month but this offer is not a good sign of anything.

Glauser was a body. He was not depth.

  • What is up with bobby hart? Shouldn't he be our starter at this point?

    ksmoothie

  • If not Hart with have others waiting in the wings that could be ready. As for Watson, if he's really going he's getting some really bad advice. The NFL eats up and spits out HUGE OT's for breakfast, he'll be no different. He had problems with the speed rushers at this point, in the next you can add speed with NFL moves. If he improves and shows the NFL another year of film he could be a 1st or 2ed round pick. If he goes this year he's a 5th or later pick..

  • our running game has issues. either our backs are not finding holes like they should or they are just not that good. in the orange bowl game we out weighed their d line like crazy and we should have had several runs by each of our backs into the secondary. we didn't. we need to bring in some new blood for competition and show our current O-line they need to work harder to play.

I don't think it's the individual player that makes our rushing attack inconsistent. There are often times guys coming in clean, not getting blown off the ball. I am not sure what it is.
