umm... our depth is unbelievable except O-Line. I trust in Hart but would love if Tunsil came in and they split reps.

The defense is going to be one of or the fastest defense in the country

I'm excited to see how scary the offense is going to be. With the depth and the talent with a highly skilled QB, its going to be scary to watch.

    At least I hope

No way Walker plays DT. I can't see it.

I see what you are saying. I just threw him in there at the DT rotation to get some reps in.

I don't see Karlos starting over Brooks. I'm just hoping Pruitt will find a place for him on the field and defiantly have some schemes for him as a spy or deep safety.

But at 6'4 235 pounds 4.4 speed and ability to find the football I wouldn't care if he played linebacker just get him on the field!!!

    Nolefan98

  • Still don't understand why anyone wants Joyner at corner. He's a safety at the next level, and being maybe our most dynamic defensive player, safety gives Pruitt the freedom to do a lot of different things with him.

Believe it or not, he's pretty close in size to Polamalu.

    fsufelip

  • They aren't going to move Joyner his senior year. He doesn't need to be moved, we have a set of pretty solid corners already and commits coming in.

Has anyone not seen how Lamarcus hits? He hits more like a safety not a corner

    Nolefan98

  • QUIT TALKING ABOUT MOVING JOYNER.

He's an elite safety. He's going to see production upticks.

There are a TON more reps for Walker at DE than DT.

    Not even close.

With the Jones' news now official, this is how the remaining/departed starters depth chart looks like.

    QB - Departed RB - Freeman or Wilder FB - Departed Z-WR - Departed LT - Erving LG - Matias C - Stork RG - Jackson RT - Departed TE - O'Leary Y-WR - Dent X-WR - Greene

LE - Departed DT - Departed DT - Departed RE - Departed SLB - Departed MLB - Smith WLB - Jones CB - Departed SS - Joyner FS - Brooks CB - Waisome

So there are a lot of openings but I think there is plenty of experienced talent to fill those holes.

My opinion of starters heading into Spring - alot can change there specifically at QB

    QB - Trickett
    RB - Freeman / Wilder
FB - Abrams? I think we demphasize the FB and go more HB or single back.
    Z-WR - Benjamin / C Green
    LT - Erving
    LG - Matias
    C - Stork
    RG - Jackson
    RT - Hart
    TE - O'Leary
    Y-WR - Dent
    X-WR - Greene

Thats a damn good offense, I am most worried about RT and FB. The rest are all experienced and great talents. At QB Coker or Winston could over take Tirckett but I dont think it will be as easy as most think.

    LE - M Edwards
    DT - Goldman / McCallister
    DT - Jernigan
    RE - Casher / Newberry
    SLB - K Williams
    MLB - Smith
    WLB - Jones
    CB - Darby
    SS - Joyner
    FS - Brooks
    CB - Waisome
    ND - Hunter

That is still a great defense I worry most about DE and overall depth on the DL and at CB.

With the schedule we have that is at least a 10-2 regular season and possible ACCCG berth (depends if one of the losses are to Clemson and they win out)

So many things wrong with this. So Karlos should just give up, and not work hard to try to overtake Brooks at that position? Deserving is great and all, but if we have those two battle it out all spring. Then we get two battle tested players come fall. Play the best one, END OF STORY!

Also should add i don't care which one it is.

Thats what they have been doing the past two years and Brooks has won the spot. Not sure why every one doesnt get that.

LOS best way to help this team (and himself NFL wise IMO) is to become the 3rd LB and replace Moody. Personally I would go one step further and move Jones back to his original LB spot and put LOS in his current spot which needs better pass coverage.

He gives up 20 lbs to Polamalu.

I'm not a scout but I'd be willing to bet the real ones will want to see LJ at CB in drills next year at this time.

The long arms, the speed and the physicality have CB written all over him. That's a waste at safety. Just my opinion but it bears watching when he graduates.

I'm interested to see how Pruitt uses him especially given our corners lack of physicality in the run game. There were instances were these guys looked like they didn't want to hit anyone.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on his position. I think you are very wrong about his position. I can't fathom anyone in the NFL wanting to move him back now, particularly with how important it is these days to have safeties with the ability to cover slot receivers. And he is lighter than Polamalu currently, but still has another year of school.

We can agree, though, that he's a damn good player.

If Joyner was at Bama he would be starting cb by now. It's the style of defense not the skill set of one player. Have you seen when Joyner moves up to the LoS and presses the slot wr?? It's shutdown!! He would be outstanding in run support and blitzing from the edge. It all depends on the defense we run. It's all in fun and speculation right now tho. Gets us thru the offseason

Well like that's your opinion, and everything man.

For real though that is the way i read it, unless he just left the caps on. With as much talent as Karlos has, it should never be a forgone conclusion that he can't beat out brooks. If he can't i fully agree with moving him to LB. As long as we get him on the field.

I don't see why it's such a stretch, it happens all the time in the pros. He didn't set the world on fire at safety last year either. Not that he was bad, far from it, but I haven't seen anything out of him at safety that makes me believe he should stay there. Like I said though, just my opinion and we'll see what happens. We do agree that he's a helluva player too.

I think he was much, much better at safety than many are giving him credit for. He was always around the football. Teams did not have success throwing in his area. It looked like they avoided it more often than not. He got his nose plenty dirty in the run game as well.

  • OL depth a problem, particularly OT. My opinion, they should move Hicks back to DE then move Mitchell & Newberry to OT and use McAlister as a "combo" DT/DE depending on schemes and opponents.

Mitchell has been recruited over at DT, but if he can get/stay healthy, he could have a future @ RT much like Erving @ LT. Newberry with added strength and weight also has a higher ceiling at OT, possibly as backup LT to Erving. Let our HS recruits (unless we miraculously land Tunsil) have the chance to RS

    NoleYeRole

  • Whatever happens, I hope Tyler Hunter is in the mix, that kid balled this year.
