FSU trustee says Noles will "stay the course"

  • The Big 12's hand will be forced when the other conferences start expanding. They also need a Conference Championship Game. They will have to expand and FSU will be one of the first calls. By gaining the Florida market they will be able to renegotiate their TV deal and get their foot in the Florida recruiting market.

Believe what you'd like sir, but the musical chairs will not stop until there are 4-super conferences (16-teams)...The ACC has emphatically proven that it will not be one of those 4.

We will either move -- or face the wrath of being on the outside looking in...

The powered wielded by those 4 will all but lock us out of the 4-game playoff.

The ideas forged through reasonable logic, debate, and discussion on this board -- may be groundbreaking, but the logic behind the ideas that float to the top will remain consistent and universal... and in time, the rest of the gang will be on board.

The ACC has actually shown that they intend to expand and be a super conference. I think the issue is that some feel that it won't be ultra-competitive in football. The conference has expanded to being stronger in hoops than it would be in football.

I think the biggest issue is that there simply aren't many strong football programs available that would provide a large boost in monetary support. You have teams that have an occasional good season (U of L, WVU and Rutgers), but there are no historic powerhouses available. The strength of this conference's football prowess resides in it's current members, imo. FSU, VT, Miami and Clemson need to be consistent top-15 programs for this conference to be good. That allows teams like UNC, UVA, GT and NC St. to have those occasional decent seasons.

  • The Big 10 would kill for a footprint in FL. And talk about renegotiating a TV deal! The FSU brand would increase the size of any deal dramatically. Additionally, talks of us going to the Big 10 would infuriate the SEC.

  • Would we be singing a different tune if ND joined the ACC in all sports including football? Then we replace Maryland with Louisville.

Napolean, your last two posts just arent grounded in reality. BIG wouldnt take FSU, Florida market or not. ND will never, ever join the ACC full time. If and when ND is forced to go full time to a conference, it will be the BIG not the ACC

All of this has been the assumption since this talk began but why is the Big 12 content to just sit on their hands? With ND apparently off of the table they should be blowing up FSU's phone. You'd think anyways.

I think the Big XII will wait for a year with the playoff before making a move to see if they can get away with not having a CCG. If it is clear not having a CCG is significantly hurting the conference they will expand and we will be at the top of their list. If they can get away without a CCG, we are stuck in the ACC. Simple as that.

We will forever be judged by the company we keep. If we can't reasonably expect the ACC to consistently field 4-5 competitive/ranked teams in the near future, we need to go.

15 crappy teams and 1 good one... isn't going to cut it.

They're waiting to see how the playoff teams will be selected before they make a move.

His statement is about as vague and general as possible. As if he had a statement prepared.
