FSU to Big 12?

  • I am from Texas but I attended FSU in the mid 70s before Bowden. (THE GIRLS WERE SO GREAT THAT NO ONE CARED ABOUT BAD FOOTBALL IN THOSE DAYS!! LOL) Not to beat a dead horse, but could there be any real interest among FSU fans/officials to join the Big 12 along with Miami or Clemson? UT finally dropped A&M and I think a UT - FSU and or OU rivalry game every year would be fantastic.

  • I will murder a Panda if we join the Big 12.

I say we stay in the ACC and put the full press on Notre Dame. Get Penn State, Louisville, or WVU as the other team.

RUMOR: FSU and Clemson Have Contacted the Big 12

Per Greg Swaim. Supposedly Texas is recruiting both FSU and Clemson to the Big 12, pitching a big TV deal.

Too much travel to go to Big12?

We now have to go to Boston and Syracuse for Divison games. The cuse is in the Atlantic

Why not? Scientific evidence shows the human mind gravitates heavily to sets of three in both cognitive recognition and retention.

Plus, no one ever reads anyone else's thread titles when they think they have something new to say.

I am not sure how to take murdering a Panda. A negative to most. But really, what good is a bear that is hundreds of pounds that does not inspire any fear. None.

And a vegan bear on top of that.

Penn st? What chance do we have of that? Probably less than uf.

Wvu, louisville= useless to us. Wvu was begging to join.

Nd-great- they could go to the big 12 as well.

If it means we will be making more money than we are in the ACC and being apart of the #1 conference in the nation (Big 12 was in 2011), then we might.

Because of my official stance against people honeybadgering everything in sight (that seems to be all the rage these days) I fully support your decision to sacrifice this angry little skunk-lookin lamb in the name of ending this madness.

Gotta agree here. The dude's a guest to this board from the Longhorn boards we should give him a break since he's not flaming or anything.

That said, Texas just has too much power in the Big 12 and OU is a close 2nd. The reason the conference is so shaky is that there is a huge imbalance of power and other teams will look to scramble their way out if they can barring change in the conference's politics (or a simple lack of options).

As much as I hate the ACC and want to leave and would like to play Texas and OU every year we don't want to walk into that trap just based on those possibilities.

  • SInce UT has lost an annual in-conference rival if you all want an OOC home and home we would love that.

Could be mutually beneficial for Texas to show their faces in FL while FSU shows its face in TX. Plus, it would have huge ratings and attendance.

  • No to the Big 12 and here is the reason why. If we had to play Texas, OU, OSU, TCU every year then we would drop UF and UM or be faced with the toughest schedule year after year. I don't want to lose these two games since they mean so much to the program and to the State of Florida (football wise).

  • Just so you know, we wouldn't be playing those teams every year. There would be at least 12 teams, and if we went I think Clem and at least one of gt, ncst or mia would join. We would be playing them and probably 2 of those 4 you originally listed in Texas, Oklahoma, tcu and osu

I think his point was more that we would play 9 Conference games (as the Big12 does right now) and with Miami & UF as OOC games, that would leave 1 lesser tier OOC team to play. That would be extremely difficult IMO...Jimbo wouldn't like that at all!

  • The ACC is just a better fit for FSU. We have rivalries that have formed by familiarity and mainly loses that didn't happen before. The ACC is a major contender in the other 2 big sports where the Big 12 doesn't bring the same presence. We also recruit the entire Atlantic Coast very well and would likely trade a lot of that territory to get a few more kids from Texas each year. Not worth it with Florida already being our home state.

There is probably more chance that our fans go on a panda/honeybadger/hamster killing spree than FSU joining UT and those other teams around them.
