FSU to B12 talk is about to explode

    Sure, the ACC will live...but thrive? Nope. And don't kid yourself, you guys will be jumping ship too if given the chance.

    Well I have been hearing about Maryland thinking of the Big ten. But who knows, am not so much pissed that fsu wants to leave. I understand you guys need the cash. Just saying think it through, but if it's best for your school then go to the big 12. ACC is all about basketball and if they want to replace fsu. They will get south Florida.

    Louisville and West Virginia look like Ivy league schools compared to USF.

  • The Big 10 would not seriously consider Maryland unless it wants a whipping boy.

    Their program is in shambles right now.

    Terp fan here makes an argument that FSU would make the ACC a football school if we win the NC but then says Kentucky winning the basketball NC doesn't make the SEC a bball conference. Your argument makes no sense.

    Well if fsu leaves the ACC will survive. Miami is not going anywhere Va.Tech is still here,and they win the acc every year anyways. Alot more times than fsu. Can't win the acc. But when to run face Texas, Oklahoma, westva, ok state every year ok. North Carolina is up and coming. So is NC state and Maryland, so is UVA and Syracuse and Pittsburg. ACC is going to be the #1 Basketball conference in America. And that's really what most of the acc schools really care about. So I get where fsu is coming from. Bye bye and best of luck in the big 12.

    VT doesn't recruit on the same level as us and will actually die down soon now that UVA is starting to recruit better than them and as you mentioned Maryland has Locksley taking recruits from them as well. We were in a slump as a program for a simple reason, our legendary coach decided to stay longer than he should have and we had to respect his wishes for a long time due to what he did for our program. The past couple years we've been recovering from that and now we're situated nicely again. The only school in the B12 that recruits at the same level as us is Texas and somewhat OU. The fact that you're here getting upset about us possibly leaving makes us feel good. Now you know how irrelevant the ACC would have been if we had never joined. We were the reason the ACC was an AQ when the BCS was put in place...we own the only BCS NC the ACC has ever won. Our streak is what got the ACC recognized as a decent football conference and you see how bad the ACC is when we aren't finishing in the top 5 every year anymore. Sorry we couldn't keep that up for 30 years. We carried this conference for too long and got no respect for it. **** the ACC.

    No team would voluntarily leave the SEC...Vandy is getting paid much more than the ACC could offer. headslap

  • If Maryland wants to stay in the ACC that's their call. It really doesn't have much bearing on FSU. However, I warn Maryland fans that they may be seeing more sports cut in the near future if they were to stay in a weakened ACC.

    Man I was typing at 2 am last night. I didn't go to Maryland. I went to a small college in dc.

    But I feel fsu shouldn't Jump ship just yet. Miami is going to be strong again. So will Maryland after Edsall fully gets the type of student athletes he wants. And after 2 more years of Mike Locksley strong recruiting.

    I feel if fsu quits on the acc, then Clemson will probably leave too. Then Maryland would be forced to add south Florida, Vanderbilt or Rutgers and uconn. And become a mega conference,like are talked about on tv. Yes it would be a super basketball conference. But the football is still top level.

    I have a question for you......IF Edsall lives up to all the hype and actually puts Maryland back on the map in regards to football, how long do you think you will be able to hold onto him? The ACC will be way behind in terms of money so how do you propose to be able to match/beat offers coming from the SEC, Big 12, ect? This is one of the many concerns that I have in regards to the contract just signed by the ACC.

    In his welcoming press conference Edsall said Maryland was his dream school. Listen acc doesn't pay that much I get it. Grass is greener out there. And yes the north carolina teams get all the foul calls and favoritism and it pissed me off too. Its always good to explore your options. But money can't replace Miami vs fsu. Or all the great rivalries we are going to be missing. But it's a new day in sports.
