I know 90% af all sports conversations revolve around football, but you'll see a drop in the quality of your non-revenue sports. texas will always be competitive, but the rest of the big 12--not so much. I understand that FSU has been a real player in the Director's Cup. Quality of competition drops for non-revenue sports.

I've got to say, as a Texas Aggie--I think I'm for the move. I would love to see texas university rot on the vine in essentially a 2 team conference. But, if FSU plus one other team moves to the Big12, then the SEC will swoop in and take Va Tech and probably NCState. The ACC will then die and be absorbed by the remaining conferences.
I just hope you know what your getting into. Dealing with texas university drove us out of the conference. At least we were in their backyard and could keep them in check. Hard to monitor their "shenanigans" from 1000 miles away.

I think the biggest thing is because you are their rival and because your area and theirs overlapped it caused a rift.
I would imagine Texas would see FSU as more of a partner, or at worst the sort of crown jewel in the conference. I would expect that, because we pull the Florida market to compliment their Texas market, we would be a school who Texas would prefer to cater to.
We'd be the team Texas would hate to have dissatisfied.

Trading Aggy, Missouri, and Colorado for WVU, FSU and Clemson would be a HUGE win for the Big 12. Dump the dead weight, bring in better programs. Nebraska is the only real loss. Colorado? Please. I would rather have UCF in the conference than Colorado. A&M? When is the last time they did ANYTHING of importance? Missouri? Good TV market....... That's about it.

You're obviously forgetting that A&M has 1 Top 25 finish in the past 10 years! Let's give credit where credit is due. ha ha
TCU is a pretty good add as well with 8 Top 25 finishes since 2002. WVU is at 7 BTW so we added 2 pretty solid teams and are looking at more.

I whole heartily believe the ACC is nothing more than a basketball conference. The crappy officiating, terrible division alignment, and the mere fact that most of the schools outside of VT, Clemson, and FSU don't care about football, which is the biggest earning college sport today. And in case you haven't heard, FSU is facing a financial deficit which will only be compounded by the current fiscal situation in the state(with public funding being cut significantly)

Your statements, alone, confirm how bad the ACC has gotten. You are relying on one team to carry an entire conference in one sport. ACC has made its intentions known with the additions Syracuse and Pitt: ACC is here for basketball only. It would be best for all of our (FSU's) athletics to move forward into a conference that provides the best economical and competitive advantages for our programs to move forward.
The ACC has very little response to documented complaints by FSU, has not vastly improved its financial standing for its members (as compared to other conferences) and seems to be content with a niche conference (bball only, with some other minor sports). TV revenue is where your bread is buttered and the ACC is not progressive in reaching its maximum potential in TV revenue. FSU, like any other university, has to look after its best interests (academic, financial, etc) and right now the ACC is not our best interest.

FSU has been hearing about all these "up and coming" ACC programs for years and none get there.....the divide is only going to get worse with the SEC, PAC12, B1G and now Big 12 out spending everyone else for shiny new facilities. We can either join the money parade or get left behind sweeping the streets for loose change.
Heck we are even helping to carry the load in Bball now after Maryland, Ga Tech, and Wake Forest apparently forgot how to recruit.
The ACC even had to go out and get Syracuse and Pitt to shore up Bball....some of these ACC schools need to stop pointing fingers and look into why the hell their programs have continued to suck.
