He also put Slive and the SEC on notice that they are about to have the Big 12 all over their landscape if they do not give FSU an invite. Haggard is a genius because he has just put FSU in a win - win - win situation between the 3 conferences. My heavy bet is that the SEC blinks and invites FSU.

In the end, it really doesn't matter. ACC got a terrible deal and is the 5th highest paid conference behind the SEC, Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 12. The football schools should look elsewhere, as it seems they are, and allow Tobacco Road to have their little basketball conference.

From the Yahoo story in the link
The first shock to the system hit Wednesday, when the ACC came to terms with ESPN on a 15-year, $3.6 billion agreement that sure sounded good in the press release. Each school was supposedly getting an additional $4 million a year. The average would be $17.1 million annually. Not bad, it seemed.
The reality was bad, however. The initial bump in television revenue is actually just over $1 million a year, sources said, and a total in the $12 million range next season. The deal is back loaded so the bigger money comes in escalator provisions that, considering how broadcast rights keep growing, probably will be below market by the time any sizeable gains are realized.
That additional $4 million per school, per year? That won’t come until 2021, nine years in, sources said."Sometimes when you bring the thunder, you get lost in the storm." -Kenny Powers

By the way, as a neutral 3rd party living 2,500 miles away who doesn't have a vested interest either way (although I've always had a lot of respect for both FSU and Texas), I don't know why you guys wouldn't go to the B12.

So in the ACC we'd get about 15 mill a year from tv whereas in the Big 12 we'd get about 32. We'd spend an extra, let's say, 3 mill a year on travel expenses across all sports.
Net gain = ~14 mill a year. First two things we should do are finish the IPF and balance the athletic budget likely with a little left over to kick back to the school. Everyone is hugging it out at that point.

I've got to say, as a Texas Aggie--I think I'm for the move. I would love to see texas university rot on the vine in essentially a 2 team conference. But, if FSU plus one other team moves to the Big12, then the SEC will swoop in and take Va Tech and probably NCState. The ACC will then die and be absorbed by the remaining conferences.
I just hope you know what your getting into. Dealing with texas university drove us out of the conference. At least we were in their backyard and could keep them in check. Hard to monitor their "shenanigans" from 1000 miles away.
