FSU to B12 talk is about to explode

  • First time I've seen something in the deal that is absolutely wrong; The ACC kept the Tier 3 basketball rights, but they sold all the football? That means significantly more money for Duke, North Carolina, etc. That in itself is reason enough to leave.

  • Haggard is my new favorite administrator at FSU. Goodbye ACC

  • The ACC can kiss our bumper on the way out. Never once did I think FSU belonged in this basketball first conference and the TV deal shows what Swofford cares about which is tobacco road. The officiating has been horrendous for years and what I consider no respect for FSU. Can't wait to get out of the ACC and into a real football conference.

I truly appreciate Jim Smith and Andy Haggard making a statement.

    Go Noles!!!

So this is true? I don't recall this part being highlighted in the new deal... Maybe the ACC wanted to keep this secret... Good catch by our guys...

  • Maybe the ACC wants FSU out, so they pull this sh!t along with the mystery calls. Let's see how they do without us...

why would the acc highlight this? it shows the ACC commissioner negotiated a deal favoring basketball powers over football powers even though most of the money is from football. If FSU, Clemson and Miami (people still watch miami) leave for the big 12 with Louisville, the ACC's 17 million dollar deal would drop into the 8 million/school range

I'd add VT to that list.

They're getting screwed also, and if you guys, Clemson and Miami all left, I can't see them staying in the ACC.

Being part of a B12 East with familiar ACC foes + WVU sounds a lot more appealing for VT than going into the SEC where they have no rivals or history.

I could see all four of you guys leaving together. Everyone would feel better knowing they had familiar company they were making the move with.

And yes- the ACC deal would get downgraded appropriately. They'd get paid like a basketball conference if all you guys left, which is what it would be.

  • IMHO, They are trying to push us out. They want to reconfigure the conference by adding 2more basketball schools. I mean, why didn't they add Rutgers which is more of a football school than the like of Cuse and Pitt ? The ACC wants to remain a basketball conference and the football schools that remain will just have to accept it.

Got to agree with you. Now if I was a UNC or VT FOOTBALL fan, I would be pissed at FSU leaving. I bet Swoffy takes alot of heat from Carolina football fans if FSU and Clemson jump ship.

  • The Big 12 would be the best football confrence top to bottom with FSU added.VT or Clemnson would just be icing on the cake.Tough damn schedule but the conf. winner would be assured a trip to the big game.Hope this happens for all of us.

  • Apparently the rest of the ACC is getting pretty anti-FSU on twitter. Will be funny to watch the value of the ACC drop when you remove FSU football. Everyone not named UNC or Duke is going to regret this moment if FSU leaves.

I wouldn't take it that far. Bottom of the SEC is still better than the bottom of the B12. Kansas and ISU are hot garbage. With FSU committed to winning paired with OU, UT and then a solid OSU behind them the top of the B12 will be able to compete with any conference in America though.

Apparently everyone in the Big 12 is getting very pro FSU on twitter and everywhere else. It will be funny to watch when the revenue and brand value for FSU and all the Big 12 - 14 schools skyrockets while the ACC implodes.

The big question is, what will the SEC do?

Now, call the damn Big 12 and start exploring! lol

We have been, our AD and President are blind. Boosters have been threatening to drop their contributions if we stay in the ACC. Hopefully the BOT can do something about it.

    gonoles1

  • Glad to hear that from Andy, and Jimbo's comments (see Corey's article) definitely could have been more vague- he actually acknowledged pursuing another option. I wish I had a crystal ball right now, and I don't mean the sears trophy.

    That is the truth.

It was the sustained pressure from boosters/alums/fans that got aggy and mizzou into their new conference.

If the President is reluctant to do this, overwhelming pressure from the boosters and fans will make the B12 look a lot better to him than losing his job because he wanted to stay in the ACC.

    USCTraveler

  • President's and AD's are hired and fired by the BOT which is made of Seminoles that will be here long after the current President and AD.

Haggard just showed the BOT's hand and put the ACC on notice that FSU is officially on the market.
