The 49ers were a vastly different offense when Johnson was there. The offensive line was not nearly as good when Johnson was the coordinator/Qb coach. They had most of the same players but they were inexperienced at the time. As far as receivers go Crabtree had not gotten "it" yet wasn't the target that he is now. The other receivers were marginal at best. VD was VD. Finally, he was thrust into the position and was running an offense that stunk before he took over mid season. He was running Jimmy Raye's(Singletary's puppet) offense that they said wasn't going to be a 3 yards and a pile of dust offense but it was.

I'm not saying I think this is a good hire if made, but I wouldn't put too much stock into what he did in San Fran.
