Johnson's last 3 stops the head coach has been fired. You can either call that bad luck or just part of the business but that doesn't mean he's a bad coach or a journeyman. He was a quarterback who spent a few years in pro football and has learned under some great QB coach is including June Jones and Super Bowl winning coaches. He is still relatively young and could get us some ins on the west coast. I'm not 100 percent sold, but this could turn out to be an excellent hire.

Just a guess, I think S. Florida recruiting eill be more group based but with Dawsey and Napier being the leads. Dawsey &Napier's personalities would blend well down there once they made connections.

Few questions....

1. Can he recruit South Florida? Does he have recruiting connections?

2. Will he be around long? His resume says maybe not, at least as I see it.

He seems to flirt between jobs almost yearly and in positions of power (OC/HC) he hasn't had any notable success (a losing record for sure)

I'm not impressed, this is one of those jobs positions on a resume shouldn't mean a lot but the accomplishments are the most important.

I'd like to see Odell take over South Florida recruiting. He's not up on the music and slang like Coley is but he's similar to Gran in that he'll be someone both the kids and parents can trust to love, mentor and keep it real with the kids.

Barring retirement, there's no concerns about him leaving FSU.

With so many of the HS coaches down there having ties to UM, Odell is a guy they all know and respect.
