FSU announces position changes

  • Best news here is Los staying at safety

It doesn't seem to me that Stoops' defense needs a speed rusher per se. And even if it does, Hicks really wasn't that guy. He seemed to me to be a real even guy 50/50 rush to pass. Bit slower than Jenkens, bit less strength than Werner

Jenkins is great, but we don't seem to be recruting a Brandon Jenkins type player any longer (225 to bulk up to 260 and keep their speed) MEJr's measurables are once in a lifetime, but I'd expect more Cashers and Werners as opposed to more Toshoman Stevens and Jenkens moving forward.

I love the six we have. And love Hicks for trying to help the team.

Fowler was a way less mature Jenkins. He just didnt sign with us.

  • We better plan on signing 3 DEs

I think a JUCO guy, a stud HS guy and a solid HS guy who isnt going to be a child like fowler when hes the #3 DE in the class.

  • Love all the moves other then Cam where I wait to see how he does before judging.

  • Really pleased with the changes and non-change with Los. Not sure why some are being negative but Erving to OT but I think it's a great move. 6'5", 300 lbs, athletic and has a nasty streak. Sounds like a great OT to me. Sucks he has burned two years at DT but he is a football player first. I bet the transition is pretty smooth.

I'm not buying this. Fowler out of high school is 261. Jenkins into his senior year just under 270.

So yes, fowler could be more speed oriented guy. But the emphasis seems to me to be size and strength over speed (and I personally love it).

Fowler was 235 his junior summer and ballooned up his senior year. Jenkins is also coming from a small program in Tallahassee and early entered so he had time to blow up. I agree that Fowler is 10 or 15 pounds more out of high school but they have the same type of game. They play similar and i think there tape is similar. Jenkins is Fowler ceiling in my opinion

Sounds good to me. Although i would feel safer taking 4.

  • Cam must be one hell of an OL b/c he & Jernigan were the best frosh DT-duo he said he's coached. Looking forward to this, but I'll have to reserve judgment until I actually see Cam play.

  • Moody to LB makes sense for his future....and could really help our defense as a result in 2012.

Hicks to TE has to be happening to create some versatility and to free up O'Leary to flex out wide without having to force Christo into action before he is ready. He's an asset as a blocker, but it'll be interesting to see how he transitions as a route runner, pass catcher, etc. Personally think he ends up back at DE when Christo is ready to take on a larger role on offense.

Cam to OT is worth the shot/risk. Best case scenario, he makes a smooth transition and becomes a legitimate contender for PT. Worst case, he makes a selfless move in an attempt to better both himself and the team, doesn't transition as smoothly as originally thought, and ends up wreaking havoc for one of the best defenses in the nation from his DT spot come fall.

Really pulling for Thompson heading into fall camp. Truly an outstanding kid who I hope can make it all the way back.

Ready to see Tyler Hunter in the mix for PT on defense. With Moody moving down to LB, there are going to be some snaps up for grabs at S. Given that most favor both Brooks and LOS to figure into the equation alongside Joyner, Hunter could be next in line if he steps up and performs.

Best of luck to both Holmes and Secord in their future endeavors, hopefully they both find success in whatever they choose.

  • We need a blocking TE bad. Not sure what's up with Tye, NOL is a great recieving TE for now, and Christo will fit the bill but is only an incoming frosh. Man our OL and running game could really be helped if HIcks can lay the lumber.
Newberry is going to be a big suprise to some of you this spring IMO.

  • I think the moves solved a lot of depth issues everywhere.

    Very well thought out.

  • I dont think I've seen this mentioned yet. At the very least, Cam's move will create competition. If guys aren't concerned about the guy behind them then they won't prepare as well compared to if they're trying to protect their starts.

  • Great update. I like all the moves. Hope CT can make it back and have a good senior season as well. Awful injury last year.

Good luck Will & Holmes. I'm sure Holmes will continue his education at FSU & if he wants to further his education, Harvard will be waiting.

  • I think all of the moves are beneficial for both FSU and the players listed.

I'm very interested to see how well Cam performs.

  • Is Gerald Demps still on the team?

Hicks is going to be #6 on offense, Waisome #6 on defense and Demps also #6
