Do you think 11-1 FSU in '13 has any shot at playing for it all?

  • Looking at the schedule. Do you believe 11-1 FSU would be able to get into the national title game?

  • early loss to clemson.. maybe

    ksmoothie

  • it all depends when the loss is...If FSU loses to Clemson 30-27 in overtime, runs the table the rest of the way, win the conference championship game and the SEC finally beats up on each other and all the teams have two loses....Very possible. 11-1 should have them in the top five and in contention for the title.

    ESS2011

  • It would have be 9 or 10 impressive wins that leave no doubt on the box score

    elykkooh

  • Simply put, no.

    FSUBone

  • Without question no.

    fsufsu

  • No. actually, not unless uf, um and clemson have one loss each and they are to us.

3 huge wins and 2 away-then maybe. Uf may be able to get away with 2 losses but would need to win the sEC.

I have a feeling that pitt is going to be an upgrade for the conference.

not winning like we did last season. If we crush the teams we're suppose to and lose early on to Clemson maybe

  • I looked at the schedule and my first response was also a no.

  • Yes, of course. A little luck and no more than 1 loss to a decent team, and a win against UF and they are in the thick of it. The questions marks on this team are really few. QB play being the biggest one. Then punting, turnovers [receiving as well as giving] and linebacker play. After that it is all about winning the games they should.

    Why?

  • We had 3 teams(SEC) with 2 losses in front of us for weeks last year, never happen.

All games are important, if you don't think so try losing one and see how people act.-B.Bowden

    Why?

Doubt the computers like that schedule. FSU will be dismissed by a majority of voters with a loss - 'Overrated again'. We aren't in the SEC.

  • Computers will do us no favors again this year...

Well it does depend upon who we lose to, right?
And it does depend upon who others lose to, right?
And if we beat a good UF team doesn't the computer like that?
The computers were reacting to the double whammy of Savanah State and Murray State last year.
Nevada could also come in to Tallahassee with a great record and would actually give us a bump.

Point being that there is way to much potential factors to just say no IMO.

Oklahoma still gets rated high despite many consecutive seasons of bad losses and they are not in the SEC?

Wonder where we would have been if we beat UF last year?

  • Can it happen? Sure. Saying no outright is short-sighted. The reason we didn't get any poll respect last year was because of Savannah St. People got it stuck in their minds early that our schedule was too easy to do anything but run the table. Our lack of large margins of victory killed us by cementing this with voters even further.

    Let's say we do this:

Sept. 2 at Pittsburgh - Win big
    Sept. 7 Open
Sept. 14 Nevada - Win HUGE
    Sept. 21 Bethune-Cookman - Win HUGE
Sept. 28 at Boston College - Win Big
Oct. 5 Maryland (Parents' Weekend) - Win Big
    Oct. 12 Open
Oct. 19 at Clemson - Lose close
Oct. 26 NC State - Win HUGE
Nov. 2 Miami - Win Big
Nov. 9 at Wake Forest - Win Big
Nov. 16 Syracuse (Homecoming) - Win Huge
Nov. 23 Idaho - Win Big
Nov. 30 at Florida - Win
    ACCCG - Win Big

.... and there's a undefeated SEC team plus a one loss PAC-12 or Big 12 team and us vying for the big game. After winning comfortably for 7 games, with the last 2 coming AT florida and at the ACCCG - you're saying there's no shot we get in?

I very much disagree with that line of thinking.

  • I really think we run the table...maybe im just being optimistic but our talent and depth should prevail...only games I see us maybe having trouble is with um, uf, clem...

    Nope.

Strength of schedule will kill us in the BCS polls again. Sucks to think that our 2013 schedule could've included West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Miami, Florida, Clemson and either GT or UNC.

I thought if Clemson beats us we don't get into ACCCG?

    Nole of 16

  • No, FSU won't get in unless they are undefeated as long as they are in the ACC, and they deserve it.

    gonoles1

  • Absolutely not. We'll probably start the season ranked #15 or thereabouts. If we beat Clemson and UF we break into the top 5, but a loss knocks us out of the top 10. Only an SEC team (and maybe ND, haven't seen their schedule) could lose 1 and still play for the MNC.

If Clemson loses 2 ACC games?? I mean if they beat us they don't just lock up a trip to the acccg. Yeah they'll be the favorite but that's why the games are played on the field
