Aggie guest reading your board.
Florida State is, and always has been, and always will be one of the biggest names in college football.
Apart from politics and the ridiculous current state of affairs where television footprint (and expansion of such) drive everything, FSU deserves to call its own destiny.
The Big12 blows apart from Texas and OU, and Texas is a handful. They're about 20 times UNC from a resources standpoint, so if you truly feel like you're being abused by the Tarheels, you better be careful what you wish for.
That said, the Big12 is also hands-down a better football conference than the ACC. I wouldn't blame FSU fans for heading there if the money is significantly better. You need to listen to your president and make sure it truly is better though, all costs considered.
Best of luck. Wish like hell you'd join the SEC.

Understood.
From the outside looking in, I was shocked at how crappy the ACC deal was relative to even the Big12's. It's almost like they've geared up to re-invent it as a super-bball conference at the expense of losing the football powers. Intentionally.
Clemson & FSU to the Big12 will probably happen. And it probably should if the ACC can't offer market value. Though in my non-business-sensical opinion, both those teams should be in the SEC. Culturally, geographically, historically, you name it.
But whatever. It'll all be interesting.

We left because we got a much better deal in a much better conference and had our choice of basically every major conference to pick from. I wouldn't expect you to get that, given that Baylor has exactly zero options and had to threaten major litigation towards everyone to even cling to the spot in the Big12 they never deserved to begin with.

Clearly OU and UT are the two biggest programs in the Big 12 - but they do not run the Big 12. Tier 1 and Tier 2 revenues are shared equally. TAMU left because of jealousy pure and simple. If I asked you guys to identify the flagship state university in Texas what would be your answer? Most would say UT. And that, my friends, is what sticks in the craw of TAMU - and is why they took their ball and went away.
The other thing that angered the aggies is that ESPN gave UT $15 million per year for Tier 3 rights. ESPN took these Tier 3 rights and created the Longhorn Network. Programming on the LHN is made up primarily of baseball, volleyball, interviews, human interest stories and lots of stuff few are interested in watching. TAMU couldn't get such a deal for two reasons:
1. There are more people interested in the UT athletic program.
2. ESPN way over payed for the Tier 3 rights and are losing their shirt on the deal. I don't think they're all that interested in paying that much again. From a timing standpoint, UT got lucky. -
