    Aggie guest reading your board.

Florida State is, and always has been, and always will be one of the biggest names in college football.

Apart from politics and the ridiculous current state of affairs where television footprint (and expansion of such) drive everything, FSU deserves to call its own destiny.

The Big12 blows apart from Texas and OU, and Texas is a handful. They're about 20 times UNC from a resources standpoint, so if you truly feel like you're being abused by the Tarheels, you better be careful what you wish for.

That said, the Big12 is also hands-down a better football conference than the ACC. I wouldn't blame FSU fans for heading there if the money is significantly better. You need to listen to your president and make sure it truly is better though, all costs considered.

Best of luck. Wish like hell you'd join the SEC.

It has more to do with the the ACC comish, a former UNC AD, catering towards basketball. The Big 12 and Texas cater to football.

    Understood.

From the outside looking in, I was shocked at how crappy the ACC deal was relative to even the Big12's. It's almost like they've geared up to re-invent it as a super-bball conference at the expense of losing the football powers. Intentionally.

Clemson & FSU to the Big12 will probably happen. And it probably should if the ACC can't offer market value. Though in my non-business-sensical opinion, both those teams should be in the SEC. Culturally, geographically, historically, you name it.

But whatever. It'll all be interesting.

  • The SEC won't take us or we'd go. At least that's how it's been. Who knows what happens moving forward.

Well since finances are all that really matter in this situation.....pretty open and closed case. Our program is in the right direction and more money will only help continue that process. I dont understand people that want to punish this program for Bowden's mistakes.

  • Clearly OU and UT are the two biggest programs in the Big 12 - but they do not run the Big 12. Tier 1 and Tier 2 revenues are shared equally. TAMU left because of jealousy pure and simple. If I asked you guys to identify the flagship state university in Texas what would be your answer? Most would say UT. And that, my friends, is what sticks in the craw of TAMU - and is why they took their ball and went away.

The other thing that angered the aggies is that ESPN gave UT $15 million per year for Tier 3 rights. ESPN took these Tier 3 rights and created the Longhorn Network. Programming on the LHN is made up primarily of baseball, volleyball, interviews, human interest stories and lots of stuff few are interested in watching. TAMU couldn't get such a deal for two reasons:
    1. There are more people interested in the UT athletic program.
    2. ESPN way over payed for the Tier 3 rights and are losing their shirt on the deal. I don't think they're all that interested in paying that much again. From a timing standpoint, UT got lucky.

  • We left because we got a much better deal in a much better conference and had our choice of basically every major conference to pick from. I wouldn't expect you to get that, given that Baylor has exactly zero options and had to threaten major litigation towards everyone to even cling to the spot in the Big12 they never deserved to begin with.

Notice here that the aggie doesn't dispute a single point in my post. This is what you get with aggies and why we are so glad they left. The aggies had a choice between the $EC,$EC,$EC and, well, basically no one else. There were no offers from the B1G, the ACC, the Big East or the PAC12. Of course aggy believes all they would have to do is ask. Delusional is the word that comes to mind.

Did Baylor threaten legal action? No, but then you wouldn't expect an aggie to understand complex legal matters. Baylor did, however, along with Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State refuse to sign a release until such time as the moving parts of realignment were settled. This simple position slowed down the process and royally upset the aggies. Their were basically bug eating nuts. It was quite fun to watch the meltdown - similar to watching the child at Toys 'R Us laying on the floor crying because momma wouldn't buy the toy they wanted. IMO it's appropriate to preserve one's legal options. Aggies don't agree.

With the addition of FSU, Clemson and the others (we're hearing VT, Maryland, Miami, Ga.Tech mentioned) the new Big 12 will become a dominant conference with a national footprint. Pretty good deal I'd say.

  • If we do not deserve to move it is because of our fans. Look at this mockery of cries out on how to effect change. "Don't give any money!" or "Stop Contributing to The Boosters!"

This is pure crap. We need to act like we actually have and deserve the respect given to us by other institutions. Calling out everyone is a disgrace, even if it is only on a message board.

And for God's sake stop calling for a lack of donations, unless of course you would like to see the demise of the University or the Sports programs.

Looks like every Baylor fan truly does know who their master is with the amount of UT di*k sucking in this post. Thankfully I can't ever see an fsu fan stooping this low.

Your right. Since A&M is 27-3 against Baylor since 85 you probably realize who your true master is.

Neither of them can stop FSU or Clemson alone. There would have to be more teams to back their position on membership.

I agree, plus we really do not bringvalue to the SEC, they already have a Florida footprint, if the SEC expands it will be to a market they currently do not have a footprint in. Which makes little sense, because cfb is moving away from regional markets (see the Big East, Pac-12).

  • I get the impression from these posts that the FSU faithful are ok with moving to the Big12. Correct?
Clearly FSU is gonna have a seat at the table, the question is where is FSU gonna land if not the Big 12?
staying put doesn't appear to be an option.

I think most of us would prefer to stay put in the ACC if we could get the finances close what we can earn elsewhere (and get our officiating concerns addressed for once). The ACC would have to land Notre Dame to fix it's money problems and that is a longshot at best.

The SEC is 2nd choice due to stability, earning power, and locations of attractive match-ups within a short distance.
Hard to admit now but we might have screwed the pooch turning down the SEC bid even though we knew the only reason they offered was because the ACC was recruiting us.

Big 12 is the only one with room to take us and some close ACC rivals (Clemson at a minimum) plus get market value TV money that the ACC can't offer. Unless the SEC suddenly makes a defensive offer (that we will take this time) I don't see any scenario that keeps us from the Big 12 if acceptable terms can be found.

FSU and the Big 12 need each other if they really want to stay competitive with the SEC.

I agree, and don't get me wrong I'm all for going to the big 12. I'm just torn between playing in a more challenging conference for more money or staying in the ACC and having an easier rout to the national championship game which if happened would bring us more money also

All great programs have ups and downs. We have had our share at Texas too.Hell Alabama was off the radar for 15 years. Its not like FSU has sucked you just havent been to the big game lately.I dont see FSU to far away with the last couple of classes you have sighned. We feel the same way at Texas. But the moral of the story is good competition breeds sucsess, kids will want to play in a confrence with Texas,OU,WV,FSU,OKS,TCU AND whoever else comes aboard.
